My small local post office refuses to scan a prepaid package. There is no self service kiosk unfortunately, just a large dumpster bin to leave your package. There is an insured/signature required package I need scanned. Not sure how to get this accomplished.

@@HorsepowerHouse During covid they started it. Now they are rude about helping anyone and kept it that way. If the delivery of a package is important, the whole process should be. They just don’t care. Yet if a package goes missing there’s problems. I know I’m preaching to the wrong choir. Thank you for responding. 😊

Oh you have no idea how bad it has been, especially this month in Atlanta GA. We ship roughly 200 items per month from our little online store. Mostly with USPS, but MORE going to UPS now (because USPS has gotten so bad.) We pay roughly $2,000 per month just in shipping postage. But this month, we've received FIFTEEN COMPLAINTS regarding slow shipping with USPS. Some shipments took TWO WEEKS to arrive domestic US. Some never get scanned after we do it at the SSK and put the package in the outgoing mail bin in the post office. So, our customer thinks we never even shipped the package. Some of these ships show no scan for 14 days, then, magically, they appear at the customer's city USPS hub. I guess that is our fault, eh? Fortunately, eBay is pretty good about it, because they know what crap USPS does. But our customers often lose patience and file a Non-Receipt Case. So, we have to send them proof of the receipt that USPS has the package. I am tempted to start giving ALL of our outgoing shipments directly to our postman. But sometimes we have 20 packages going out in a day - and the postman would probably rather not have to lug 20 packages to the little van. lol Fortunately, many customers KNOW that USPS is horrible, and they remain patient. Not all, though. SO FRUSTRATING LATELY! March 2024....

@@HorsepowerHouse I feel for you! You would think USPS could appreciate prepaid labels to quickly scan instead of bringing packages that start from square one, having to type all info in the computer. Go figure. Lol.

Yeah, I hate this. Most of the time, the tracking isn't updated until the package is nearly delivered.

This is why you scan it yourself. Or give the package to your postman. They scan everything.

@@HorsepowerHouse True, but a) their website never mentions that. b) If it's moving through the system, there must be a computer record of it at multiple steps, so updating the tracking shouldn't be some sort herculean effort.

@umeng2002 Oh, I see you have not dealt with the postal service nuch over the years. what they do is never consistent, and rarely accurate. so as long as you scan your own package, at least there is a record that it was handed over to them at that time. otherwise, it might take 3 to 5 days for them to scan the package for the first time. which makes you look bad as a seller. This is all this is about, covering your own azz by scanning the barcode as soon as you turn the package in.

Thank you so much, sir Usps have been the worst carrier in the US today , I dropped a package for 5 days ago and no any updates, until the package arrived my customer's post office and the other usps mailman scanned it. Usps is so worst

oh that is very common with usps. just Google USPS problems in georgia, and you will see how bad it is in the Atlanta area. but it is a problem all over the United states. and there's nothing you can do about it. sit and wait is all you can do.

@@KOFKOF2007 they usually have about 3% delay or failure rate. But this year it has been over 5%. We ship hundreds of packages per month, and 5% really adds up, and angers our customers greatly. And there's nothing we can do about it. Talk about frustrating.

@KOFKOF2007 I just had three customers today ask where in the heck is their package. Welcome to the world of online sales. Where the shipper takes no blame for delays, yet, the seller takes all the blame and has to give up the refund money even though they had nothing to do with the situation.
