I love the trip, love the views, and thank you for making the video. Too bad you didn't do any prior trip planning. I would have been terrified driving alone on a motorcycle, and not knowing how far the road would take you inside that park, especially since it was getting later in the afternoon, when you turned back. Again it was just driving, driving, driving and not stopping at any of the viewing points along the way. There was one thing that you said that stood out for me, "I wish that the family was here with me to see this!" That could have been such a great trip IN A CAR with you, Mama, and the girls.
Why did you not continue to the "west gate" instead of turning back?

The 'Going To The Sun' part is closed during the winter. There is so much snow up there they don't get the roads plowed until the end of June.

Now a road to drive if ya had too many beers. Gee my wishful thing is having 5 foot paved bike lanes on each side of road. The majesty of the scenery is unreal and seems that road never ends. I was thinking John must need to fill his fuel tank soon …ha ha Pleasure to watch vid and nice weather. Very busy road.

John. Now you have made it up to Alaska. For your trip home again. May I offer you a suggestion which will give you a bit of a break. When you go back through Whitehorse Yukon. Turn south off of the Alaska Highway and go to Skagway AK. Then what you could do is go onto the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry Service down to Prince Rupert B.C. Canada. You will go through a lot of breathtaking scenery. Check it out.

The Weeping wall is at about 30% through the Sun Road, The Loop is at 50% through the run road, u turned around not far from the loop at maybe 60% of the sun road. i don't know if there is a direct road from Waterton park to Banff through the mountains or u have to take the Trans Canada route.

John, TOTALLY agree with Debra Petersen, you NEED a paper map, in fact what you REALLY need is the good 'ole tried and true Rand McNally 2023 50 State Road Atlas ...LARGE PRINT EDITION (!) ($21.07) Give your eyes a break (!) Nothing wrong per se with electronic maps .. ie Google or Google Earth-etc.,but NOTHING beats a good road atlas. Almost impervious to rain, but certainly to weak or non-existent WiFi or Cellular Data signals and dead phone or tablet batteries. Add it to your Walmart Shopping List, along with those microfiber cloths/towels for "Goldie's" windscreen that I had mentioned in an earlier comment. Plenty of Walmarts up in Alberta and British Columbia. As always, take care of yourself and be safe & keep these beautiful video logs coming (!)

@donm80112 жыл бұрын
Yes, a huge fire a few years ago. On the positive side it improved the views along the lake. Before you could only see the views at the turn offs because of the thick trees along the road.

John, just curious, how are both you and "Goldie" "performing" as you go up and down in elevation/altitude, in several spots along that route, elevations are hoping 6,000 + feet in elevation. How are your overnight lodgings and conditions, food and otherwise ? Let us know from time to time ! Keep up the nice work here, and please (!) stay safe.
