As a Brit, I find the difference fascinating. The cost of those earthenware bowls is astounding, much cheaper over here, but then uranium glass is very hard to find over here 😔

Interesting. Must be Martha Stewart show created an interest here. I find that things are valued differently in Germany, too. Cut-to-clear glasses sell for under $20, while they are $100 in the U.S. Travel for the best of both worlds.

That would be a great store to visit! Thank You... On the subject of repurposing... my late father became an apprentice cabinetmaker when he left school in 1925, at the age of 13, but later he could do anything. When he built our family home in the 50's, he used timber from the family timber mill in country NSW - but the French glass doors and front windows were made from beautiful timber... timber from torpedo cases, left after the war! A bookcase/padded room divider, popular at the time, had under the studded side, the side panel of a beautifully painted old milk cart... I can see it now, a butter yellow paint covered with fabulous gold, black and red hand painted signwriting, beautiful letters with swirls and swishes... it's now in my garden shed, storing neatly stacked tins of paint! ❤🦘

Love hearing about your father's woodworking. He was a pioneer in "reduce and reuse", before it was a movement. My grandfather was a hobby woodworker and used neighbor's mahogany moving crates to create beautiful works.

@@LadyMaryBeth Yes, my dad saved everything and I mean everything, something I'm also accused of, but I don't think I'm in quite the same league! Dad was the oldest and at 18 he designed and built a house for this mum, all timber inside and out, his younger brothers helped... they only had to go to the back of the property to bring down the timber from the mill.... He passed at 82 and my sister and I donated his woodworking machinery to the local "Men's Shed" where creative men, like your dad, woodworkers and metalworkers, have a space to use equipment and tools they don't have at home. Both men and women, not only build and repair household items, toys etc. they also form wonderful new friendships. ❤

A fine video,I thank you for sharing your visit. The pharmacy section fascinated me,as I have a penchant for mortar and pestle! I own a 2000 year old one,called a ‘Mortarium’ It’s Roman,and I still use it on special occasions,with a replacement pestle that I carved out of Lignum Vitae wood!

My grandfather had a business in the Hieghts over 60 years ago. It was called " 11th Street Bar-B-Q " then the last time I visited about 25 years ago it was a cafe. I think it's time for me to see if the building is still standing and if there is a new store/ restaurant in it's place. Love watching you go to places I once visited frequently when I lived inner loop. ❤❤❤

Hi Mary Beth! Today I picked up a Waterford crystal angel,with original sticker and etched on the bottom. What were they originally sold for? I paid $22.50 . My dog passed Sunday and I have it next to his memorial. Thank you.
@LadyMaryBeth7 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear of your dog’s passing. Hard to lose a fur baby. The angel was meant for you. The first one that launched in 1993 with the nativity set was $99. Most of the other angels were about $129.
