Thanks Christie. It is hard to believe that it is time to start thinking about tomatoes already. Your garden always looks so lush and bountiful. It is wonderful that your children are getting to experience the whole process of growing from seed to eating the end result. I am sure that there will be even greater things to come, when you get your new garden boxes.

I’m finding Melbourne weather a bit tricky to judge planting but last year I planted my tomatoes very early and they did better than most. I had seeds direct in early August and seedlings late August. Even though we had those incredible storms, hail etc my yard kept its soil and plants managed. I’m discovering it depends on your planting microclimates and positioning of plants, soil etc more than traditional seasonal planting times now so great to push the norms and experiment when it comes to small urban settings. I’m enjoying your channel clever lady!

It’s always a gamble isn’t it! That’s why I love growing from seed, I’m way more likely to experiment and less devastated if something doesn’t work out! Best of luck with your tomatoes this year 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 hopefully more warm weather isn’t far off!

Hi Christie you plants looks great. Just want to give a suggestion when you plant peas they look good if you plant few in rows and there some purple and yellow do they look beautiful together and the kids love colours and the flowers not white they pink and. broad beans w/ pink flowers also maybe next year.

Great video, thank you. Those ‘bugs’ aren’t dead, they’re transforming 😅 They’re black soldier flies. Fantastic composters; plenty of info online and on KZbin.

Hi Christie, novice gardener here. How many seeds to do you put in each pot? Also my cabbages/brocolli/cauliflower have grown great leaves but no heads yet… is it too late for them or should I just leave them?

Hey! Re seeds, that depends what your growing! I often start multiple seeds in one pot then once they’re bigger and stronger I’ll transplant them into their own pots, some plants don’t like having their roots disturbed though and are better off being planted directly into their final resting place. The best way to work out how far apart plants should be is to search how big they’ll become. I’d give your cabbage broccoli and cauliflower some more time! If you haven’t been giving them some liquid fertiliser, that might help speed it up. Good luck!
