TikTokers these days, they do the darnedest things. And today, we are looking at something quite crazy. This life lesson channel decided it would be a good idea to make a video about a TikToker bullying a blind woman, because why not. Buckle up.

@ethanloch3802
@ethanloch3802 2 жыл бұрын
@@HUYI1 Essentially, yes. I have an IPhone 13, and use Apple’s built in screen reader (voiceover) to navigate my phone. Anyone with an apple iPhone can just enable voiceover by either asking Siri to “turn on voiceover,” or click the side button 3 times. So I can pretty much use a phone like everyone else. It basically speaks everything that’s on screen, so when I go on KZbin and navigate, it’ll tell me exactly what’s going on. Not really anymore complicated than that. Though typing can be a bit slow on the normal on screen iPhone keyboard, so I use other methods of typing, such as a qwerty external bluetooth keyboard and a thing called Braille screen input, with basically turns the entirety of the screen into a braille keyboard and allows me to type using the braille code on an IPhone. Of course, it comes out in print. Hopefully all this makes sense :)

As someone who had a blind grandfather (who had two brothers who were also blind), I can tell you that most blind people are more aware of their surroundings (save for when they are really old to the point their hearing starts going & other neurological issues brought on by age such as dementia) & my grandfather was a 6 foot tall man who used to wrestle in his youth & worked on the water in adulthood! He was the kind of guy these pranksters should and probably would have thought twice about messing with & if they didn't he'd make them regret it! I personally have no tolerance for those who prey on handicapped individuals like this in real life or in fiction! There is definitely a thin line between a prank & an excuse just to be an @$$hole & pranking a disabled person is definitely a low blow! 0:06 - "If someone tried that with my grandfather, I could see him grabbing that cane & show them what it feels like! I really don't like this as it portrays blind people like they don't have any other senses! Again unless debilitated by age or drunk, they can tell when someone is in their face like that & if able bodied enough would respond using their hands to defend themselves either by grabbing the stick, pushing the attacker away, or using their arms to shield their body! After all their other senses such as hearing, touch, & smell are heighted to compensate for their lack of sight which is why blind folks who learn how to read brallie can read view touch as they are using touch to feel the bumps which are a pattern they have learned to recognize! 1:33 - My grandfather could actually read braille & had several braille books! If they are using an actual braille book then props! Still that book looks kinda thin to be a braille book (don't know if they have gotten smaller in recent years)! 3:51 - "From what I know a real blind person would be able to tell where the sound is coming from! They might show some confusion at times but at that range most would be able to tell someone is nearby (unless they are hearing impaired due to age or deafness though given her speech I'd say she can hear! Still she did react when he went boo which is consistent with how a blind person would react! Some blind people can actually use their heightened hearing as a form of echolocation (for example some will make a clicking noise which they use to help them navigate in addition to touch which the cane acts as an extension of! It all depends on the person though and what methods they were taught growing up! Still it doesn't mean they are like Daredevil, its just the way their bodies compensate for the lack of sight! My grandfather tended to use his hands or walk alongside a sighted person like my mother or grandmother! Mind you his hearing wasn't as sharp as he got older, but he could still get around with little issue! As he was 6 foot tall, I could usually see him coming as a kid & knew to either make him aware of where I was and/or move out of his way so as to not get stepped on or cause him to trip over me! Fortunately he had raised two girls & I had an older cousin so he was something of a pro at getting around even with young kids underfoot! Still this kinda feels like the creators had very little interaction with a blind person (I'm not sure if this woman is actually blind though her walking stick color seems to imply she has partially vision like my grandfather did when he was really young, as he could see a playing card if he held it up close to his eyes)! 4:08 - I really don't like the implication that blind people are somehow helpless or stupid! I've known several in my life (both family & acquaintances of my grandparents) who were blind including an elderly man who would push his wife in a wheelchair (she had her legs amputated years back)! With the aid of a seeing eye dog, he & her could travel around the town of Cape Charles with little issue! My grandfather thankfully was able to convince his somewhat overprotective parents to let him go to a school for the blind where he learned braille! I personally can't stand it when people assume blind people are helpless without sight! Now everyone is different & they are as vulnerable to the effects of advanced age like anyone! Still the fact this woman is out and about on her own, this seems somewhat fake like what someone thinks a blind person would act like! 5:15 - This is a HATE CRIME plan and simple! Two guys messing with an elderly blind woman cause they are both ageist & ableist to a degree on par with the NAZI GERMANY (who both sterilized & euthanized people with disabilities)! 9:28 - CALLED THE POLICE & have him arrested so he will rat his friend out! They are both guilty of not one but two hate crimes! I hate the message this sends! What they were doing wasn't pranks it was assault, theft, & abuse of the elderly/disabled! These are all crimes that they need to be charged with! While I believe in forgiveness, that doesn't mean that you let them off with a finger wag! Like August noted, people like this would probably be commiting actual murder & who's to say they won't try it again if the opportunity presents itself which could lead them to kill someone (elderly folks are more prone to injury & the way they tormented her could potentially trigger a heart attack in an elderly person) or them graduating from assault, theft (the cane), & abuse of elderly/disabled to murder! I hate it when life lesson channels ignore actual crimes & play off such crimes as malicious pranks for views yet make the pranksters literally hate & belittle a person for being old & blind, especially when at one point in history there actually were people who were like that and used such ideas to sterilize and murder people with disabilities! 9:48 - How the hell is he going to enforce that?! He has no legal authority to do so as he isn't a judge passing sentence! This guy could just bail & I wouldn't trust him around the old lady given his admitted hatred for people like her! Heck this guy's punishment might lead to her suffering more abuse or the "so call prankster" murdering her! Seriously what's stopping the TikToker from acquiring a gun or knife to kill both the old lady & her so called protector?! 9:58 - Not if he acquires a gun and he could get his cohort to aid him cause the video would implicate him too! Seriously you have the evidence already so go to the cops and have him & his friend arrested as your attempt at community service puts the old lady in the hands of a potential abuser who might kill her & you in the hopes of getting away with it! You don't know this kid & what he might do as he's already proven himself to be a horrible person & potential killer in the making who has been broadcasting his crimes for all to see! 10:41 - Amen to that! Seriously it isn't a life lesson! The so called pranksters are over the top and Ableist to the point they are giving off NAZI eugenics vibes! The blind old lady is depicted as unrealistically helpless! Now yes, age can cause blind person to become feeble as my grandfather got to that point as he got older & his dementia got worse! But she seems pretty active & I get the feeling the makers of this didn't really understand blind folks aren't completely helpless & can tell when someone is in their face thanks to their other senses!

Out of the whole video, I gave the blind lady the side eye for the “I just had my hip replaced!” 🤦‍♀️ They should just keep it simple, no one uses one of those sight sticks as a cane. And who the hell would operate on a blind women then be cool with her walking anywhere ALONE after surgery? I,know these channels are known to exaggerate everything, but made my headache worse.

I think you’re awesome August. You also have the vocabulary of a seasoned writer. You beautifully called out anti-science karens when their screaming rants were ubiquitous on the Net. I wish you’d do that again for these trucker convoys. Once more, these Trump insurgent, anti-sciencers are holding our 2 countries hostage, and they’re making it seem as if they have some sort of majority voice when they unequivocally do not. These cross border truckers are absolutely not in the same class as the 1970s convoys protesting the _petro shock,_ Nixon’s measures for installing retarded, turtle speed limits, and the resulting slew of pig cops going after the truckers. Nixon argued going slower would save gas, but their livelihoods depended on getting to their destination as fast as possible, albeit safely. These current Canadian and American truckers are using the vaccine mandates to hold the rest of us hostage, when their border crossings make it even more imperative to be vaccinated. I’m beyond furious. Won’t you do a video on this exactly as you did the anti-science karens at that school board meeting please? This generation is copying everything the boomers did. But these pussy truckers, with their automatics, are not the same breed or class as the ones who drove stick gears in 70s. They’re just a bunch of thugs.

Banana Fish is an amazing anime, go watch it, but it’s a little triggering.

Ah yes, the feral tiktoker, a true apex predator. This fascinating creature usually hunts during the day, targeting the elderly, injured, and/or sick. The feral tiktoker's common enemy is the wild human, who seem to attack any feral/loose tiktokers who provoke them. It does not end well for the tiktoker as they are then shunned from the rest of the human species.
