Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa Question & Answer | 07/09/19

I need to do a redemption trip to Aulani. The first time we went we were pretty much kicked out of the resort by an Oracle convention. They took over the other hotel and Disney wasnt being strict with the pool bands so there were no chairs by the pool no beach space. We didn't get to enjoy the resort at all and when we did come back to our room at night they were doing beach parties til 2am!! I highly recommend calling before you make reservations to make sure there are no conventions during your stay.

I took my 4 teens between the beach trips, ranch, plantation, Pearl Harbor , etc they were entertained. The pool , lazy river, and slide was their favorite. Wet and wild is right there

Also, you said teens won't like Aulani but my 19 year old son and 15 year old daughter absolutely loved the resort! They were never bored and were usually exhausted by 10 pm.

I was there when you folks were there. I think you folks were just coming through the front door to check in as we were walking to our room. I looked at you folks and couldn’t figure out how I know you folks although I listen to the podcast every week. I figured it out after we left the resort and got home the next night (30 miles away in Honolulu). That’s vacation/staycation brain for you! Lol! Anyway, we found Chinese chicken salad in the fridge at Ulu Cafe.

In addition to setting your watch to the destination time, try to align your meals in the airport or on the plane with meal times at final place.

We were there June 3-9 this year. Every guest should get a pool band even if you aren't going swimming. We were in lines for character meets and non wrist band wearing folks weren't allowed to participate without a band. Also, it's easier/quicker to drive to the north shore from Aulani than Waikiki.

Norwegian has a great Hawaiian Cruise where it takes you to different Islands. Price almost the same as a week in Aulani which is so expensive and you're just stuck in one Resort

Tonkatsu Bairin in Waikiki! Best meal on the island! It's small and packed, so be sure to make a reservation. It's the real deal.

If you stay at Aulani you need to rent a car and drive to the north shore. Even drive a lap around the island. There is so much more to see than Waikiki. Waikiki is not the hawaii feel

If you have a resale where you got the physical DVC Member card then yes. That's the key here - you have to produce a physical member card to get the sparkly wristbands and discount.
