first off, the fact that you got this clean of a sound from EastWest's Hollywood Orchestra continues to amazes me. Secoundly, this some really great advise on overcoming shortcomings in libraries

That was an amazing video, thank you so much! I had never thought to use the time delay on the different mic signals, but that's brilliant

Coming back to this a year later to say that it's still a favorite. While OPUS is frustrating in some ways (terrible legato bumps at low dynamics on the solo horn, for example), this helped me parse best usage for many articulations. Can't wait for more! Maybe something for Abbey Road One?

This has all been brilliant. I've really picked up a lot of ideas just from hearing your thought process. 30:46 made me laugh out loud, too. 😄

I've never used Expression Maps before, I have each articulation as a separate track, but I guess I'll revise my template, it looks pretty handy and takes up a lot less workspace. Thanks!

A fantastic job! As I only work with EW Opus I would be very interested in a release of the Cubase file. I really like your structure and mix!

Synthestration, this is all great, but you did not produce any Opus mockups for Cubase to sell on your website, are you going to ? It sure would be helpful !

Hi Maximus! I've just released our first Cubase OPUS project file, called "Beyond The Storm". It uses a lot of the same techniques from this video. synthestration.com/product/beyond-the-storm/

Jayden, this was an insanely valuable walkthrough. Thank you! Would it be possible to obtain a Logic Pro version of the project file (I found the Cubase version on Synthestration). If that isn't an option, would it be possible to obtain an OMF export from Cubase that I can attempt to import into Logic Pro? So many thanks for producing this -- your observations about instrumentation and sound reinforcement are the best I've ever seen!

Your comments are very kind! I'm glad you found the video helpful. I will look into creating a Logic version of the project. The tricky part is all of the custom tweaks that were made to each track, the OPUS settings, and the Expression Maps in cubase. But hopefully I will find some time soon to make it happen!

Very nice mockup, and interesting walkthrough 🙂 Interesting to see other peoples routing and mixing, and I see potential for improvement in my mixing setup, especially with regards to be able to print the reverb to STEMS and have different mix control setups for different needs in Cubase. Inspired to make some changes in that regard 🙂

Thanks Nikolai. Hopefully I'll be able to do a more in-depth template/routing video in the future

@@synthestration7763 I have already found a way to fit/route itninto my template via groups tracks for all bigger sections (strings high, strings low, brass high, brass low etc, and have a send on these groups tracks to a scoring stage reverb and then to STEMS when I print, used it on my latest mockup where I tested a full CS-series set up for composition of mine 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH2rdZaaqKZnjZY Thanks for the tip!

Hi Andre, I have just added the project to your account. For anybody else who has purchased Beyond The Storm before the Aunt Marge's Waltz project was made available, please get in touch via the contact form on the website and I'll get you sorted out. 🙂

Sounds really nice - considering this is more of a "classical" than epic movie piece, it nicely shows that OPUS is still a very capable library. And the woods really are quite nice (being the weakest part of Hollywood series usually)

where & when to buy this project?
@synthestration77632 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your interest! Unfortunately, since this project contains music by John Williams, I can't legally sell it. This was made more as a free educational video!

@@synthestration7763 Why don't you change the melody in scale like fashion? - then it would be legal.

Hi there, there will be (lots of) interested buyers if you just pr9vide this well-balanced Cubase template with some example midi in some same style (but non JW). Given Opus subscription is highly affordable, there will be a large audience who yearn for this.

Okay, so, your big things are 1) extreme attention to detail and 2) experimentation. Darn.
