Maybe the comment of death was too far, but it's completely understandable for Elizabeth to not forgive her. Everyone has their own, separate terms. Michael may be able to forgive her, but that doesn't mean Elizabeth should. She can take her own time. I fully understand everybody on this comment section feeling bad for Mrs. Afton or mad at Elizabeth, because we can see Mrs. Afton is really trying to change.❤ but try to look at the situation from liz's prespective! liz is sort of still a child. and had gone thorugh a lot, especially with Mrs. Afton. Mrs. Afton abused them all, either physically, mentally, or both. and as someone who doesn't have the best expirience with one of their parents, I can tell you how hard it is to not get so mad and to not say anything like that to them, and I was NOT abused. so thinking about how Elizabeth WAS, it was probably SO HARD for her. especially being a child. I get how you feel bad for her, because she is trying to change. but it's hard for elizabeth too, because the person which she adored, and was her parent once, abused her. all her life. and is now, out of nowhere, trying to change!! and changes are hard. especially changes like those. I was not abused but I know the feeling. and I just wanted to put it out there cuz I saw everybody in the comments protecting Mrs. Afton and getting mad at Elizabeth. and it just sorta angered me seeing nobody standing up for elizabeth too. but I do appriciate everybody's kindness here. Elizabeth doesn't deserve all the hate she's getting I mean sure she went too far by what she said but she's just a child. I mean if someone treats you like dirt then your obviously not going to like them. I'm not saying she did the right thing nor am I justifying her actions I'm just saying she's not entirely in the wrong here. Like I said she's just a kid so her brain isn't fully developed so she can't fully understand her situation and younger kids tend to hold grudges longer. From what she described Mrs Afton seemed to be a really bad parent in the past and when your young and still growing and learning, your mum being abusive and neglectful towards you and your siblings is obviously going to take a toll on your mental health. Also her brothers were with her during this and experienced the same pain (I'm a new viewer so I'm not sure if she was more harsh on Mike) so she's going to look towards them for support and backup so when she sees they forgive her she's obviously not gonna take it well. An example of this is 1:55 as she mentioned how they all forgave her after all that suffering. I mean Evelyn is her abuser and she's expected to just forget everything? I get it's been 30+ years but like I said, she has the mind of a child and all of that time she's hated her and set out to stay that way and be supported by her role models. She probably feels betrayed by her brothers since they've been with her and know how bad Evelyn is since they have gone through the same trauma as her, and all of a sudden they've all forgiven her? Evelyn may have changed but that doesn't mean Elizabeth automatically has to forgive her and forgiveness takes time. Sure she could always just ignore her and just have said "no" but she had her childhood robbed from her and like I said she has every right to act the way she did and see Mrs Afton in a negative light. Let's be honest she wasn't wrong for almost all of her claims. Of course, there could've been a different way of communicating, but people are absolutely hating on Liz in the comments :/

While yes Elizabeth has every right to be mad, you have to also consider Evelyn is trying her best to better herself despite how difficult she finds it. Unlike her back then, she actually listened to Elizabeth not wanting to spend time with her by leaving and doing what Elizabeth said she would rather Evelyn be. Dead. And Evelyn did just that.

I think Elizabeth has a right to be angry. I don't think people in the comments get that abuse and neglect can take a toll on a person. Elizabeth doesn't have to forgive her. Yes, Evelyn is trying now but a simple sorry and a few gestures isn't enough for what she put them through. What Elizabeth did wrong is taking it too far with the response, but she is right Evelyn needs to acknowledge it. While I do have a little bit of sympathy for Evelyn, taking her life shouldn't excuse what she did, and some comments don't seem to get that. The only thing I think Elizabeth needs to apologize for is for is basically saying nobody wants you here because other than that Elizabeth wasn't lying at all. In summary, Elizabeth is a victim of abuse, and I don't think it was her intention for Evelyn to off herself, but that doesn't mean she has to forgive Evelyn, but she shouldn't' t necessarily be villainized either. Yes, what Liz said was wrong, but I think she's justified as people handle abuse in different ways. Is what she said harsh? Yes. Does she need to learn the weight of words? yes. Evelyn might have moved on, yes, but Liz hasn't. Evelyn wasn't the abused, she was the abuser, so of course she can move on since it didn't affect her like it did with Liz. Like I said, a simple apology for abuse isn't going to cut it. I'm gonna add this in there, Yes, Liz said for Evelyn to kill herself, in my opinion, I wouldn't want my abuser to live either, they don't deserve to walk free with a simple apology for hurting someone in the worst possible way. But at the end of the day, Evelyn is the one who decided to listen to Liz and Liz probably learned her lesson🤷🏽‍♀️
