It wasn't until our reading specialist told us, that we learned that basically the whole staff had been calling the alphabet "letters" and "vowels". Without realizing it, we'd never explicitly taught the kids the word "consonant". Eye opening!

A person with a lazy attitude towards learning is called " ha gedelu" or "ሀ ገደሉ"። Which translates to-although not a direct translation " can't pass the cliff of ሀ", which is the first fidel. You do see the cliff in the ሀ right?

Can you please tell me if I wrote ደ and ጰ correctly at 2:40? I'm preparing a video with the full Amharic alphabet and I would appreciate some feedback on these two letters, because I found different ways of writing them and it's a bit confusing :) Thank you!

⁠@@auralwritingSure, you got the ጰ right. To write ደ you should start with a bar - in the middle then add the legs „ „ on the sides. Then make a line from the middle of the bar up and turn to the right to make the circle head like የ, It should look like this ደ at the end. For ጀ you only have to add a straight neck ‘ and a bar - on top of ደ. It’s better to write this ለ since it’s the formal one. Apple’s Amharic font is ugly. I suggest you use Amharic keyboard website’s *Washrab* font. Btw ዐ isn’t a circle it’s more of an Oval and you forgot ቨ[V] I know it’s a loan word but now it’s included in the standard Amharic Fidel gebeta. So in total we have 34 rows and 7 columns. I hope you write in the standard Washera font. Let me know if you have more questions.
