This song taught me what ghost notes were 8 years ago. Had to come back and groove again. Been drumming on and off since 2007 or so. Still haven't reached this tier performance level. I'm all breakdowns lol

Nathan is slept on. Lowkey one of the best metal prog drummers out there

I like the floating floor tom, also I thought these drums were programmed in the song except for the snare ghost notes. That is a compliment.

This video is at the top of my music list for 2023 🤘 Probably much like previous years, but I never checked those 😅

Good question! I actually have regular foam earplugs in, and have towels in my drums and tape under my cymbals. I have the song blasting out of a PA wedge to my left - you can probably see it in a couple shots. This is a video technique i got from doing some music videos in the past!

Out of all the songs I’ve EVER listened to, the part that starts at 2:10 is the best thing I’ve ever heard. Never gets old how heavy that is.

P.S. I know, the drums here in this song are already processed, but it's amazing seeing someone play it on this kind of kit, using as little as possible, but still slamming the hell out of his drums! :D

@Drumtome the bell of the cymbal! In the studio I used a Meinl Classics 8" bell, but live i prefer the natural feel of a cymbal's bell ;)

@iloveskateboarding45 Yea i've always done the multi-purpose ride thing, and have had 3 Sweet Rides in the past - but I've never been fully satisfied by anything! I've recently been endorsed by TRX Cymbals, so I have a full set coming in before the tracking of our upcoming EP. The versatility of these cymbals are unbelievable!! Keep an eye out for em in future cover/playthrough vids!

@StolenMicrophone caught me!! i'm surprised you didn't call out the random snare stroke i threw in while filming... note-for-note matching (even for my own parts) proved to be more difficult than i had anticipated!

@TheAntimetal the "weird" stack is just an old 18" Sabian china with an inverted hihat! in the studio, it was a 14" New Beat top with a chunk out of it, but for this vid i threw a 12" Dream Bliss bottom - which also sounds rad! I'm still searching for my perfect stack combo...

@S006Deluxe In this video you'll see a custom 14x6.5 20ply Essex County Drums snare with 4 two-inch vent holes...this thing is a beast! Usually I use a 14x6.5 Pearl Sensitone Elite snare, which is extremely versatile, and i usually use in the studio. Thanks!

@iloveskateboarding45 I actually have no idea what either of those dudes use, but it looked to me like Navene had more of an auxiliary trash-hat type thing live. Rudi seems to use different stuff - yesterday I was watching his promo video for the Classics Extreme Metal series, and the stack seemed to have a decent-sized crash on top! I never did any research on the stacks, just reached in my closet and grabbed whatever sounded neat... there are TONS of options!!
@artcellrox12 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they do. Eric Almeida. Check out this KZbin channel for both versions of both songs, or go to the Bandcamp link in the video description to download them for free.

@iloveskateboarding45 hahah well i hate the top too, but i've been lost/lazy with how to cut it properly and not slice my hand afterwards while playing...i'm getting something called the RemoteSpeedyHat which will let me get that low level hihat I desire, along with putting it out in front of me - really cool invention! As far as a ride, I do indeed use one, but i crash it more than ride it. I always need both cymbals to have prominent, articulate bells so I'll sometimes use 2 rides.
