Just to put it into text here it's this W - Astral Flight Mana Cost: 80/85/90/95/100 ⇒ 50/55/60/65/70 Cooldown: 22/20.5/19/17.5/16 seconds ⇒ 15/14/13/12/11 seconds Q - Breath of Light Bonus Damage: 14/15.5/17/18.5/20% ⇒ 18/20/22/24/26% Hotfix -> W - Astral Flight Q - Breath of Light Bonus Damage: 18/20/22/24/26% ⇒ 8/9/10/11/12% Cooldown: 15/14/13/12/11 seconds ⇒ 22/20.5/19/17.5/16 seconds As you can see, the hotfix literally nuked it into a huge nerf on W even before the buff.

Essentially the quest tracks all the stacks you and smolder earn in the time it’s active. Whoever wins the quest gets the total of those stacks divided by 4 on top of what they earned themselves I think maybe there’s a cap on it at some point

Guys, the nerfs aren't as bad as they admittedly look at first. Long story short, a smaller increase (from W) to a stronger Q base lessens the nerf's effects and you'll end up losing less Q damage % wise that you'd think. And now that his kit is cheaper, you can use it more. So even if your early W lane contest got weaker from the bonkers 14.3, your ability to contest the lane to scale (instead of winning) is still most likely stronger. You can lane more aggro without losing and you scale better towards late game from doing so.

It's kind of funny, because they wanted to change his playstyle a little bit, but Asol was already a pretty strong champ, and the "neutral changes" were basically buffs, to an already strong champ. So he is getting nerfed like 2 times at the same time

He was strong only in really low ELO matches, while being all but extinct in higher levels of play, where he got gimped from minute one. These changes had the intent of flattening that, even if they ended up raising him across the board as well.

@christopherhughes7970 it's worse in pvp situations though. Does ASol need the wave clear when his Q can do the job by hitting all 6 or 7 minions at once? I think a lich bane would be better for split pushing so that you deal more damage to towers since Q is a low cooldown and can set up the lich bane procs. And you can auto the cannon minion when wave clearing too.

Obviously this is just one game so really not a big enough sample size to prove my point, but I think you're still sleeping on the sorc shoes with smolder. I went phase rush with like the standard essence reaver -> navori -> bloodthirster -> didn't get to finish lord dom, but I also had a full stack mejais. Ended up going like 15+/3 in a ranked silver game with my friend on Zyra support vs a Varus Senna lane. Not super impressive stuff, but it was my first Smolder game, so if you're interested in the build I'll send screenshots or something!

@PekinWoof ... At the end of the game the damage split to champs was about 17k physical to 3.5k magical. Didn't check the overall damage graph, but it was around a 25 min game and I had 300 to 350 stacks. Smolder doesn't need the cdr from Ionia boots since he gets them from other core items and transcendence. I agree that he doesn't feel op, but he's just a solid/safe carry imo. It's worth trying out just to see how it feels, thanks for listening!

You get tons more passive stacks for your Q though, so Q does more damage. So the W bonus dmg nerf is necesarry otherwise you kinda get insane bonus dmg twice

Smolder is underwhelming because the items this season are broken, but he was designed with those items in mind. Everyone else is balanced around old items, which were limited severely by the mythic mechanism, so they're running roughshod over games with just a bit of headstart. All games are snowbally these days, makes it kinda lame.

No. Adc has 3 paths: crit, lethality, or on-hit. It depends which champion you Play which is ideal but all are viable paths.

Crit = jinx, Caitlyn, Lucian, sivir, aphelios, ezreal (if you're aware its best, but crit is not meta for him), tristana, nilah, samira, etc Crit is the most popular adc path, but certain champions benefit more from others. Some champions can do multiple different paths like Draven, varus, or kaisa. Crit is actually the standard for most

Riot is just so comically inefficient. How can a multi-million company with 200 years of character design experience fail like this? So they buff a champion because they thought he was weak, making him OP as hell, so they nerf him back to normal... Okay, that makes sense. But then they nerf him even more, making him weaker than he initially was... so that would mean he wasn't weak the begin with, in fact that would mean the opposite, that his initial state was too strong...?? After watching both games, I honestly don't think ASol looked too strong. The second game looked better, but I feel like the enemy team didn't respect you, and they let you get fed early on. Maybe in an "average" game where you don't get fed it would be around the 35 minute mark where you start feeling strong. But like you said, a lot of ASol's value in teamfights comes from the Rylai+Black Hole slow. Just my thoughts as a bronze player. Ok gonna go watch Zwag now ✌

His Q is still stronger, making his W stronger in the process, even while it itself is weaker. It's weaker, but not as dramatically as the numbers look. If you don't want to do the math yourself, I'd bet Phreak has (or will have) an Excel to clarify it on his YT channel. I'm still on the fence if the W CD nerf all the way back was necessary, but I'll guess we'll see.

E max gives you almost nothing, minor base damage increase in exchange for an even larger mana cost. He's already a god late game, they can't buff his E rank up by much, only mana cost scaling removal could make him consider maxing it earlier.
