I envy everyone who gets to see these on anything resembling a regular basis. Some day I'm going to save up money and take a long trip to some area that sees the aurora fairly regularly, and just stay there until I can get good pictures and videos.

Thanks for posting this. The producer Babyface at one point had two TX81Z units in his studio, both of which he kept set to a bass patch, one detuned from the other. This became a part of his signature sound. The best synth patches for this classic synth can be found at manymidi.com

@TheDeadLegacy there's even a picture that shows you the sun on the left and how the magnetic field blocks the particles and stuff.. Or you could search for a documentary about the aurora on youtube.

Gives you a sense of wonderment that we are but tiny beings in the greater Universe, lol. Also gives you a sense of the fact that the planet we live on is akin to being Spaceship Earth as we hurtle through the cosmos.

@XXXimaniFaithfulXXX actually solar winds are quite deadly, their interaction and deflection from earths magnetosphere is what creates the light

@TheDeadLegacy Do you know what causes the aurora? The earth's magnetic field blocks most of the deadly solar particles in space like a giant shield, but since the earths magnetic fields originate from the poles, these solar particles can reach the earths atmosphere near the poles. For a picture of the magnetic field lines, just google: "earths magnetic field lines" (without the quotations. You'll then understand how the solar particles can reach the earth, because there is no block there.
