They need a 4 year apprenticeship so they can understand who they are giving badges and guns to. Too many bullies with badges.

Color doesn't matter when you're giving a man a gun and the power to KILL. WHAT THE HECK. And the rep from the hiring commission walked all over you being so Innocent and So perfect. It's always Somebody else's fault that a man was gun whipped, or a little old ladies arm was broken, or a mentally handicapped is shot and killed....... Because what.... The officer just had a bad day?????

Are they actually going into these applicants background as deep as they say they do? Perhaps they're not spilling out everything during the evaluation process of the application. It's bad enough that some convictions are forgiven on a case by case basis.

What if they had a bad day with a gun and a badge.

Plus one to everyone saying it’s total BS to excuse away a poor psych interview as a “bad day”. When police officers have the power to kill easily someone or seriously injure them, they cannot afford to ever have a bad day.

I tried to apply for a volunteer job at the Jeffco Animal Shelter and I was rejected because I had one misdemeanor conviction on my record. Turns out if I had applied to the Aurora PD I would have qualified.

You might want to look into whether Aurora has good enough wages to attract good candidates to begin with.

These seems to be a clear "lets lower the standard to have what we think we need there". Sometimes it works, some others it doesn't.
