Here is a quick translation of the interview: Dag Rune Olsen (Rector, University of Bergen): Thank you, Aurora, for being with us on this special Christmas broadcast from this Christmas Studio - or the university hall, as it is usually called. How has your peculiar year been. Aurora: It’s been quite similar to everyone else’s, I think. I have been home a lot, inside a lot. And I’m also not very concerned with spending time on something I cannot change. So I have tried to make the best of it. I have painted a lot. That has been very fun. And I have made lots of music. It has been a creative and good year, actually. Olsen: Peace to work, in other words? Aurora: Yes, it has been a year filled with work. Woman: It is great for us, at least, that you are making lots of good music. Christmas is almost here, what about Christmas are you most looking forward to and not least the time that comes afterwards, when the pandemic is over? Aurora: I am very fond of Christmas … [looks down on her red dress] as you can see. I am very fond of Christmas, I am really looking forward to Christmas … although I like to look forward to Christmas more than I like to celebrate Christmas. Which is something many can relate to, right? It is a lot of fun to look forward to something, just for no reason at all … I am really looking forward [to Christmas]. And I am looking forward to walking around in my pajamas and not showering for a week and forgetting who I am, as one does between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Yes, I enjoy that. Olsen: Do you perhaps have any good advice for students who … well, many of them have been a little lonely in their dormitories and have not been able to meet their friends and so on. Aurora: Oh, yes, it is absolutely awful. I have been thinking a lot about students and young people. It can be extra awful when you are meant to go out and be social … your needs are pulling you out there. So I think it can be extra difficult for our students to not have been allowed to do what you really want to do when you are our age and when you are young. So yes, I have thought a lot about you who are watching from home. I just hope that people are kind to themselves and understand why they may not get as much done as they usually do, why they are tired a lot, why they do not feel as good as they usually do, because one can forget a lot of what is good about oneself and others when one is lonely. And I hope that everyone remembers the friends they have who maybe feel that it is extra awful to be alone. For some that can be quite terrible. Isolation can be very difficult. So I hope we remember to take care of our social friends, who are not asocial and introverted. Now us introverts have to take care of our extrovert friends a lot … they need us. This is great! In my country, people just go home for the Holidays when school closes, and I rememberr it as an almost melancholy experience. But in Bergen, it's a real celebration! Especially with AURORA performing to mark the event! When she and Silga perform together, with just a guitar accompaniment, it's just magical!
