"When we did Batman Begins, we never thought it would end up as a trilogy. And maybe to you it's three movies but you have to remember for us it turned into 12 years of our lives. A lot of stuff happened in that time. And it all started with Chris Nolan phoning me and asking me if I was able to work with him and do a Batman movie. Of course I was able to work with Chris, but the more I thought about it, the more I started to have concerns that I didn't know how to solve - how could I be so dark and, let's face it, dramatic and at the same time be the elegant Bruce Wayne, and split my personality that way? So Chris came up with the idea that I should invite my friend James Howard who is the infinitely more elegant and brilliant composer to come aboard and be Bruce Wayne. So the three of us set off to London, we wrote the movie, had a great time, finished it, people seemed to like it. Didn't think much more about it. And a couple of years later, Chris came over to my studio and started to tell me a different story. He started to tell me the story of the Joker, he started to tell me about anarchy, and the punk attitude, and the fearlessness. And I said to him, "Who's going to play this character?" He said, "Oh, this young actor called Heath Ledger." And let me tell you when Heath came in, every scene we saw, he was fearless. He truly was that character. He just got into that role and he was brilliant each time up on the screen with us. We loved every moment of watching his performance; his daringness. Right towards the end of finishing the movie, we heard that our Heath had died. And it was a terrible shock. And at first I thought, in the sorrow that, everything I was doing, all the punk stuff, all the hard edges, all the rusty nails, all that stuff, the broken glass attitude - I needed to tone it all down. But I realised the only way to really honour the man and honour the performance was to keep the edge, to keep the rust and razor blades across the rusty strings. And a while later, Chris came to us and he said we do owe it to ourselves that we finish this trilogy, and we get back into it, and we get back into the inventiveness of it all, and we did Dark Knight Rises, and we had an amazing premiere in New York, and we go to the plane after the premiere, and we go to London for our premiere, and I remember arriving at my flat at 7 o'clock in the morning and the phone is ringing. And a journalist, he's asking me what my reaction is to the terrible shooting that occurred at the screening of our movie, in this small town in Colorado called Aurora. And I haven't heard of it, we were on the plane when it aired, and of course I said what everybody else said, I said "devastated." And all day I was walking around thinking of the victims, thinking of the loved ones he left behind, and how the word "devastated" was just not enough. And I phone my friends in the choir that night, and I said, "Can we record a piece of music, wordless, that feels like we're stretching our arms out across the Atlantic, we're stretching our arms out all the way to this small town in Colorado called Aurora, and we're hugging these people, we're hugging the loved ones that are left behind." And you know something? The world hasn't gotten much better yet - if you look at Syria, if you look at the Middle East, you look at Paris, you look at Venezuela where my friend is from. And on this stage, there are musicians from all nations, from all continents, and when playing, we play nice together. And maybe, maybe there's just a little glimmer of something that can be learned. And tonight, all we want to do is play from our hearts and stretch our arms out and embrace you, Brisbane, with our music, from our hearts. Ladies and gentlemen, this piece is called Aurora." - Hans the Legend

This song is timeless. This song portrays the world we live in. The sorrows and the sadness, the death and destruction. The pain and the suffering. But it also portrays the love and compassion, the motivation and dedication, the will to be something more. To make a difference. We as human beings decide our fate and the fate of others. Love those around you, lift them up and make a difference.

I grew up in Aurora Colorado and went to that Theater multiple times with family and friends. I remember crying after hearing the news of the shooting. It devastated the community there with such senseless violence. I'm so glad that Hans dedicated this song to the people who lost their lives by just trying to see the conclusion of the master piece that was the Dark Knight Trilogy. I saw him in person in concert when he came here in 2016 and thanked him personally.

Composer here; stories like this is exactly why we are bound to do this job. One of the few universals in composing is this deeply fueling moral imperative to express our emotions in our art, exactly the way we feel them; because we know we're not the only ones who feel them. There are countless others. And when countless others have that acknowledgement, that someone else besides them feels this way too, it reminds them that they are not alone in those feelings. It makes them feel less small, because they're part of something larger and beautiful. My heart goes out to you, and I will never try to do something as arrogant as claim to know your experience or feelings as well as you do, especially in regards to something as sacred and tragic as what transpired that day. I will say that I'm glad our medium was able to provide you some comfort, and I hope it always reminds you that you are not - NOR WILL YOU EVER BE - alone.

I'm a native of Aurora, Colorado. I grew up on Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center, and I have family out there. I currently live n Maryland. When I heard news of this horrible shooting, I couldn't help but feel personally affected by it. Not only was it my hometown, not only was it my favorite superhero on the big screen, and not only was it 7 days before my birthday, but, most importantly, innocent people died needlessly. James Holmes killed innocent men, women and children out of some blind rage. If only we had our own Batman in the real world. The fact that Hanz freaking Zimmer, a man who's music I ADORE, would write something this touching for the victims and name it after the town I so dearly call home? That just makes me think the world of this guy. Thanks Hanz, even after all this time.

@diegoquirogavidal6941
@diegoquirogavidal6941 2 ай бұрын
No he's not. Mozart laid the foundation for all that Zimmer does. To be at that level Hans would need to come up with a whole different way of composing, which is hard to do in a world that is changing as fast as ours, where reinventing everything is somehow the 'norm'. Sure, he is at the helm of an entire industry, which is evidence enough to say that he is at least "one of the greats" of our time, up there with Williams and a few others. But boy, oh boy, believe me when I say, there is not a single chance that in the time he's got left he will achieve either the consistency of John Williams, nor the complexity of Shore's The Lord of The Rings music. Hans has found the perfect recipie of tasteful yet innovative blend of modern/ romantic composition, which puts him in the spotlight every time one of his movies comes out. But let me remind you that is John Williams, who still lives, the third man alive with the biggest amount of nominations to prestige awards like oscars. You may not trust the oscars, but when half of your movies warrant a nomination for whatever prize there is, that is to be a legend. All of this is said whitout taking any merit whatsoever from Hans. He is an amazing composer, and has lead the industry for years. I consider myself a complete fan of his work and i resonate with almost every piece of music i have heard from him. He might be the most talented musician in the race right now. But to say he is at the level of one of the founding fathers of modern music is a bit too much, which Hans himself can say, the same way he blushes when compared to John Williams. Also sorry for unearthing this 6 years old post lol. Hope everything is good in your life m8

I listened to this before I went to see Rises. I only just heard about the shooting at the time, from a comics fan known as ItsJustSomeRandomGuy. He talked about the shooting and that his solution was to go to the movies. At first I thought it was kinda odd if not in poor taste since the shooting did happen in a theater. However it struck me what he meant. The shooter whatever his intentions were, the byproduct of them was to instill fear of going to somewhere as joyful as a movie theater or a mall. In his own small way he was pretty much giving Holmes the middle finger for doing what he did. So I followed suit.

Hans Zimmer is simply one of the most influential composers and artists of the classical movie genre. When I first heard this song, and read its title, I knew nothing about what this was, the stylistic notes, the awe of the vocalists/harmonizers in the background, and the sheer chills that tingle my soul.....it cannot be replicated anywhere else than right here. After hearing this song with my bro, we looked it up. I was in tears when I read it was a dedication to those families who lost their daughters and sons from the Aurora Theater shooting.....my soul sank. And to think, that was in 2012 when it happened.....the time flew so quick.....and now we are faced with newer struggles.....whether it is the world we live, the streets we roam, or the nightmares that eat at us: this song is the beckon of light that better emits the solemn nature of fear, reflection, and truth. We are a race that is inevitably created to destroy and ravage the very things that make us better. But, with music.....songs like this, we can find ways to reflect, learn, and more powerfully then ever overcome the strives of this society and world we live in. I know this seems a bit of a stretch, both literally and metaphysically, but I hope you have read all this. This song greatly impacted me, and countless others. For the families who lost their babies to the shooting: I mourn for you, ever day you feel the pain. I pray that this world can one day overcome and forever end the hardships and heartbreaking events that toil our souls and will to progress ever so well. Hans Zimmer: I, and others alike, cannot thank you enough. You have shown your greatest quality as a composer: you have the forthrightness to take your cinematic music, and just...revise and reform this new bittersweet masterpiece for those who lost their lives when going to witness Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" in Colorado. Just...thank you. You have honestly proven your worth as a compassionate and dedicated composer, artist, and human being. Thank you. For everyone else: May this song remind us that even though we face struggles and trials of loss and suffering today, we will grow; we will flex our muscles stronger the next day, we will rise higher as we reach into heaven for greatness, where evil, fear, and darkness cannot touch its vast and holy land surrounded in light and love. We should all aspire to end our sufferings now to reach up into the vast holiness. Someday, there will be a new rising of our form into something greater...and it starts with our hearts to seek goodness in the world. Also, thank you @xNarsil for this upload. Many can now view this tragic, but glorious masterpiece on KZbin now. Thank you. Love is the answer, everyone. You can help be that change in a world gone bad. Be safe and well.

This song... I may have had no family in that theater that night, but this song... it brought me to tears. May the lives of the fallen never be forgotten, for as long as they are remembered, they are never truly gone. They live on in the hearts of those they loved, their family, their friends... My good friend and the father of my daughter committed suicide two years ago. I started to listen to this song over and over again, and finally something cracked open in me. I hadn't faced it, not really. Now I can. This song is purely beautiful. To mold a darkness into a shape of purity, that requires a real talent.

In 2012, I was at theatre for Dark Knight Rises, after that I went home to listen soundtracks of movie. Than I encountered this masterpiece and learnt it's story. You can actually hear screams of victims, feel the anger of victim's relatives. How a person can kill another person without a reason like defending him/herself. 3 days after I watched this movie, my grandma passed away. I felt sadness and void first time in my life. Often I came here to listen this to understand feeling of a person who lost someone. Today I am here again, thank God/Allah, everything is fine, but to remember the lost ones and know value of everything I have. Thank you, Hans.

The existence we call life is more about being than thinking. Deep thinking keeps you from the one thing that matters, this moment. Doing is always better than thinking about doing. I suggest watching "Peaceful Warrior" for more insight. God...the foundation of universe is The Great I AM. Conscious energy that permeates everything in existence. It took me years of hardships and experiences to realize what I share with you for free. But don't take my, or anyones, word for it. True knowledge is best realized through experience. All the best.

when I was 7 I started singing in a professional church choir and I stopped when I was 13. Every time I hear these types of songs it reminds me of that time. I'm 16 now and I miss the singing I always did and I regret leaving it but it took to much of my time away. This song gives me nostalgic chills and I LOVE that feeling. I hope someone can relate in some sort of way with this music. If you read this the whole way through I appreciate that very much because I don't share this way of feeling with anyone else because I'm always scared that people will judge me on it because in my country not many people are religious so if you have been in a choir from a church its already pretty special/weird for some people. Thanks again for reading this if you did and even if you didn't I still appreciate you even lookin at the first word. Have a nice day or night and please for the love of god don't quit something you are good at because you will regret it later. I'm not religious either so if anyone comments on this with something religious I will probably not understand what it means I'm sorry.

Baba Semka they say taste in music is subjective, but really there's no film music better than LotR. It isn't crowned "best film music of all time" without a reason.

Hans Zimmer relied on divine inspiration to compose this song. It transports you to that tragic moment in Aurora in the past and you hear the pain, the sadness and the silence that prevailed at that time... Truly magnificent!

"I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime. The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families." -Director Christopher Nolan's reaction to the theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

CO.AG Music , do you, or does anyone know where this specific version is sold? iTunes only has the live version. It’s great, but Hans talks through some of the piece. Very powerful, but I would also love to have just the song.

I'm not sure... because this song is for the people who died on the TDKR premiere, so it was composed after the movie was finished. Maybe they did put this music in the movie after for them....

+Hyotomochu Uuuh that's the point, it wasn't composed. It's just a reorchestration of a segment of TDKR's soundtrack.

Vighnesh Vikram yes the melody is the dark knight theme music. So touching and moving with it slowed down like this. I love this more every time I listen to him. Hans Zimmer is the best in the world at composing theatrical scores at the moment. True genius and artistry.

sean green no matter how peaceful the morning may be, no matter how beautiful the words shared, there will be someone to bring Pain - heavenly music healing wounds over old scars, a moment of actual peace shared, until someone brings the Pain - where there was "how amazing we are!" is yet again full of the Pain - that someone just had to bring...
