It was clear you understood immediately what the song could be about. Only someone who has become sensitised to it would read the lines between those beautiful poetic words delivered in such a delicate way. Her body language also shows that she embodies the story as though it has happened to her (I don't believe it has, but she emotes every word). You see a tiny shudder and a shake of her head, a subtle bouncing as she self soothes, and the hands and arms delicately weaving a magical spell of protection. A queen of the faeries taking us on a journey into the depths of human relationships. But this woman has girl power I assure you, and she is not afraid! More Aurora please. My favourites are Everything Matters, A Different Kind of Human and Exhale Inhale.

She definitely has some dark songs. She's had a great childhood but also lost a lot of people close to her. One in an event that happened in 2011 in Norway. KZbin doesn't like us talking about what that was though. She always shows a way forward in life though.

Great reaction, as always, Saeed! 👍🤟 It's especially interesting, because when I made my request (can't wait!), you told me that coincidentally, someone else had just made an Aurora request. And this was probably my second choice, because I know how much you love lyrics, and this is really deep! She has introduced this song in the past as one of the partners getting murdered, so it goes even beyond sexual assault (which many assume from the lyrics). It's very heavy, but Aurora is not afraid to go heavy. She's a fantastic and authentic songwriter (not to mention ridiculously good vocalist and performer). My request won't quite be so dark, though still heavy. 😏

I read in comment sections that depending on the area in Norway, you can roll the r, or say it the French/German way. What a wonderful way to discover this astonishing Singing Lady. The contrast between form and content, between the beauty of the voice as well as the choice of words, and the extreme darkness of what is evoked, is striking. And what a way to embody her songs... English is not my day to day language, so it happens sometimes that this beauty just takes me softly away. But knowing the lyrics, at some point the meaning brings me back to the "chilling reality". Her guitarist, Silja Sol, is clearly impeccable here, right? They harmonize so well together. Anyway, thanks for this great reaction to Aurora, this singing White Lady so haunting.🙂👍

You're correct about the R, here on the west coast, we have the German/French R, though in variations of dialect, Norway is one of those countries you can drive for 15 minutes and the dialect has already started changing. But in our capital of Oslo, they roll their R, as they basically speak our written language of "Bokmål"

I can't remember where I read it or maybe heard her talking about it... but I think this is her own experience of a relationship which turned very dark indeed. Your reaction showed a real empathy and I'm sorry you have something in your past which makes you relate. This is a haunting song, but Aurora is such a bright and vibrant soul and if you watch her in interviews you can't help but be enchanted and cheered by her personality.

Another tremendous Aurora song is Murder Song 5,4,3,2,1. It is incredible how with just a few words you can be placed in a situation with so much feeling. I recommend the live version of the Nobel Prizes.

From what I've read this song was inspired by a person Aurora knew that had a very dark view of the world . She took that and painted a landscape ; imagining fruit that might grow from that tree , OR it could be she explored what may have been the REASON for that dark view ...

For me she is Ren's soul sister, remeber Violet's tale? They both takle very dificult subgect, in different way but want to put mirroir in our face and want us to become better human. She is a full ampath, verry sensitve to human struggle, even if she didn't lived many hard life, she's deeplys touched by every thing that suround her. I think you Are so right about your interpretation, that it’s about trauma. I have been wondering what «happened quiet», because violence or abuse it probably not completely silent, but I have come to that it could be the breakage og the heart, or the breakage of self into development of multiple personality disorder. It might have different possible interpretations filtered through our own lens of experience. Domestic abuse was the first thing that came to mind and at the end the line "And I'll bleed in your bed" made me think of sexual assault. I dont know if that is a correct interpretation of that line. Either way it is a darker song, but amazingly well written and performed.

Yes, some kind of violence, sexual assault, some kind of abuse. Aurora has said her music is bigger than her, she is also open to different interpretations of her songs.
