The guns are only part of the equation, mental health care is awful in this country, just a bunch of people (usually with mental health problems themselves) looking to make an easy buck , not caring individuals with compassion, empathy and understanding. The psychiatrists are the worst, along with social workers who are under educated about meds and what they can do to people. Psychiatrists don't even thoroughly evaluate their patients before medicating them, they push the drugs which come with awful side effects which mimic other mental disorders, then they medicate them for the side effects instead of taking them off the meds first and really listening to what the patient has to say, what kinds of problems they are dealing with, They will not take the time to get to know their patients , they claim to be too busy, but if they took the time to properly diagnose people a lot of these incidents would not occur. I think his going to the mental health center was a cry for help which was simply ignored.

If anyone tells another at random that they 'have thoughts about killing people' there are NO further details or data needed, that needs to be called in to the authorities. Some sort of analysis holds notion in the interview as not to take such a statement serious as it is not 'specific' to location or 'type' of potential victim. Sane individuals those who are not homicidal do not sit around thinking about killing people and blurt out they think about it. Disturbing.
@MayTheOddsBeInYourFavor2 жыл бұрын
Not true…sometimes people are just angry and want to verbalize that and express how angry they are. And that’s fair. People who are ostracized by society and feel isolated and abandoned may harbor some hatred towards the people who they view as being the cause of their isolation but therapy helps those people to talk things out and cope. To put this into a context that others might more readily understand …People in therapy talk about killing themselves all the time. It’s just a feeling and talking helps them get those emotions out and move towards healthier thinking patterns. If you called authorities every single time someone expressed bad thoughts, the people who need to be in therapy most would never go. You only call authorities when a person has a plan. You can see them sussing out if you have a plan if you mention you want to hurt yourself and then they ask, oh? Really? That’s interesting…how would you go about doing that? If they shrug and don’t really have anything beyond that, it’s just a feeling, something to help them handle in a healthy way. If they start naming the time and place, the method they would use, what they’d write in their suicide note, how they’ve got the supplies to do it….THEN you call authorities cause it’s pretty obvious it’s progressed beyond a bad thought, into something actionable that can happen any day without intervention. I think what happened in this case is that the shooter spoke about it but he doesn’t verbalize much in general and didn’t expand on his answer so she probably thought nothing of it. She should’ve dug a little deeper but you can only get what you’re given with patients and then you make a judgement call from there. In this situation, she was unfortunately very wrong to think nothing of what he was saying.

For some reason feeling suicidal is taken seriously by the psychiatric community but if you tell them you feel like killing people , it's just dismissed, sometimes even laughed at! Bipolar 2 is often misdiagnosed and often comes with a lot of anxiety. The mania part of bipolar two can be really scary, thoughts of harming people does happen. Aggression, hostility, rage can be exhibited. I suffer from bipolar 2 and often certain antidepressants have made me worse , even change my personality . I am not your typical person you find in jail , but i wound up there after mixing alcohol and antidepressants. My brother was having murderous thoughts but was afraid to tell anyone, I believe he had the same condition. I'm almost 100 percent positive he killed himself because he feared he might kill others. He was a very intelligent sweet guy , just as this young man was before he turned into a mass murderer. I saw footage of him at science camp or something like that where he seemed like a nice nerdy kid , kind of cute even . Somebody put him on the wrong meds or something, possibly he was developing schizophrenia . He definitely was no monster. Doctors and psychiatrists: please , if a patient talks of wanting to kill people , take it seriously and hospitalize them asap or something. People are quick to sympathize with the victims of these kinds of events but a little sympathy for the poor confused devil who did the crime is in order as well.

Mental illness makes people do all kinds of things they normally would not do. If the illness goes untreated or is misdiagnosed, tragedies can happen.

Im gonna guess a common issue with these SHOOTERS is they all never had proper discipline growing up. Which not saying everyone who never got strict discipline is a shooter but the way all these kids and society is acting lately its kinda obvious. Everyone does what they want in some rude fashion a im better than u mentality in every way it’s disappointing and sad to see. Cant wait to see what 2023 has in store for us!!
