I live in Brazil and here it's even more limited. We do have Sephora, but they don't carry many CF options (we don't have Tarte, Hourglass, CT and many, many more). It certainly got better in the last 5 years or so and we do have options like Too Faced, Fenty, Rare Beauty and Anastasia. The tax system on cosmetics is also up in the roof in the country and that makes most sephora brands to be even less affordable than they already are. For example: a Too Faced lipstick goes for the equivalent of 40 USD.

I live in Louisiana and it’s a hit and miss in Sephora and Ulta! Some of the employees are rude or they don’t want to help you and sometimes my favorite is when they act stuck up! I try to shop mostly on line cause I hate going to the stores!

I'm in the US and it's mainly Ulta vs Sephora here. I think I prefer Sephora, but Ulta has been bringing in a lot more popular brands lately, like Fenty, Hourglass, and Natasha Denona. Ulta also has some indie brands, which is cool! But I think I like the in store vibe of Sephora better? They feel a little more upscale I suppose

oh hey, i used to work at mecca! It was really good but what i remembered were the weird meeting room names. Instead of being called meeting room one, meeting room two- they would be called 'Feedback is a gift' or 'The definition of insanity' (yes that). They were fun but honestly didnt tell you where the meeting room was located so 5 mins before the meeting, we had to look around the whole building for the meeting room lmao...

I'm in Australia, do Mecca ever do regular discount sales? I don't see any so l guess maybe that's why they offer a better loyalty program? I only ever shop when products are discounted.

Aussie too! I don’t know for sure but I feel like they have less discount sales? Personally I don’t shop enough for loyalty points to really make a difference so I only really shop at Sephora during their sales as well. (and could just be me but I feel like Mecca brands area bit more $$$ in general)

Mecca never does regular sales, however, they do a twice a year sale on items that don't sell well/expire date may be close. You need to get in very quick as the better items are gone instantly

they dont have sales very often and when they do its mostly almost discontinued products! sephora is better with their sales!

mecca doesn’t have all the trending products like laniege or rare beauty, but in Melbourne is does have glow recipe, Mario badesu, drunk elephant, Charlotte tilbury, summer Friday, Kosas, sol de Janeiro but it is the best!

I live in Australia and the struggle is real. I agree that mecca beauty loop is better except for those of us who love regionally have to make a purchase online to get it sent to us stores are hours away.....so being on a low buy havent been able to get my boxes this yr and on level 4

girl, when I tell you we _just_ got Urban Decay in my country 💀💀 it'll probably be another 10 years until we get the more popular brands from now. i think the main difference is the customer service. In aus at least you rarely even get acknowledged in sephoras whereas its rare to walk through a mecca without being greeted or offered help in some way

I went into Sephora in Queen Street last year, looking for any make up or skin care from NZ. I was disappointed they had none. Australian, American and European brands galore, which I can get here in Australia. Sorry for the essay long rant.

We don't have sephora in Finland at all. We have KICKS, that doesnt carry half of the popular brands in the US. It sucks to be honest, so you can feel a bit better about your situation in New Zealand 😅

I think the only downside of Mecca is they barely have Sales.. Maybe boxing day but that is it whereas Sephora has more sales. Also Mecca only have the BLB. The money you spend is only tracked so that you know what level you are at. You can't redeem anything. Id say Sephora has more sales and you can redeem a 10% discount with your points. Each have their pros and cons and they hardly overlap in brands they stock so I have to purchase from both places really. Both not as big as US Sephora or have half the stocklist

After hearing your explanation - I honestly think Mecca should expand out of AUS/NZ compared to Sephora because I feel like Sephora is only great in the US. Everywhere else (I live in Singapore) - the brands carried by Sephora internationally, how often products are restocked, availability of viral products outside of the US, the point system and perks are just not that good. Furthermore, I kinda feel like in Sephora US - the staff (as rude and judgemental as they are said to be) give you proper recommendations and have a good idea of services (such as being able to ask for samples and really selling you products) provided by Sephora. Whereas elsewhere - unless ex Sephora employees actively tell you on social media about certain services you can ask for, you probably won't ever know about them which I think sucks and is really damaging to the wallet (only in the US have I seen that you can return open and used makeup!!)
