It is a true testament to the respect the parliament had for Tony Smith that his presence alone diffused a dissent motion whilst clearly defending his deputy's action.

After everything that has happened to see this type of thing happen is completely and utterly unacceptable. it would not be accepted in any other workplace and it should never be tolerated in the People's House from its elected members entrusted to govern this nation. If the staff member was touched let alone pushed or shoved out of the way that constitutes an assault and those persons should be charged. In my view their apologies were insincere and totally insufficient. Perhaps if they were charged they may take the position they have been given more seriously.
