Sadly Aussie50, Ed took his own life on May 28, 2019. I went through the EEVBlog forums regarding his death. Also watched several of his most recent videos to try to uncover any kind of warning signs of depression, etc. There definitely was, but sadly no one was able to interpret them or there to help Ed get past these hard thoughts. I even found a Facebook post of his from May 27, 2019, the day before his suicide. It was a picture of some burning electronics and it read "The Darkness won't show me the light." From what I can gather it is very likely that KZbin and social media fueled Ed's depression and led to take his own life. This is very sad to hear. He will be missed.

Direct payment via Paypal does work, just very decentralised and you have to do your own management of people. but no extra cut of the income, as most doing so via Patreon are using Paypal anyway to pay. Video probably will have to either use torrent or Vimeo, and set up a site somewhere ( Wordpress probably, either hosted yourself in a location or off WP themselves, or Blogspot) to do the release info and RSS and such.

To be honest I was always only interested in your machining, electronics, electrical videos, rather than your other hobbies involving hollowed out metal tubes. Patreon is a shit-show of late, not just due to what sort of content/views they allow. Support sucks, website outages, regular payment mess ups, delete first/allow appeal later. Still it's your choice on what you want to make, hope things work out.

merry Christmas from Canada Aussie ive been a long time viewer since the days of the ssi shredders and car destruction videos ruling KZbin ive loved watching your videos since i found your channel through the sidebar while watching a shredder video as a young boy and have been subscribed ever since im now in my early 20s and still get excited every time i see a new scrapyard video or ramble about the cool things you and your dogs are up too your easy to understand explanation of complex things and lively often funny commentary expanded my interests in electronics and mechanics at a young age and helped me understand things in a non boring always interesting way and i just wanted to thank you for the knowledge and the many hours of entertainment you've given me over the years ive seen many of my smaller favorite channels on youtube end and lie dormant because of youtubes strict policys and its sad but i wish you luck on your future in devours and hope to see a random video again sometime

Well, I've enjoyed the channel for a long time but I'm not about to say sorry to see you go, hope you come back, etc etc. It's nothing personal but you aren't the first person that grew a strong channel, then purposely began neglecting it because your unhappy. I don't remember you doing "reloading" videos and stuff like that. I remember engine videos, washer videos, car videos, things like that. But, I guess people change. Rebel against authority if you wish, but I'm not picking that fight. I make my videos, keep my channel rolling, make my several hundred per month and life is good.

Hey Ed, if youtube ever does end up banning you, I have an archive of all of your videos, and it's updated twice a day so that if your channel or a few others go down, there's a place to find them still. It's even on a little site, but doesn't have any streaming capability or anything like that. I don't know if your internet is still pretty bad out there, but should things take a bad turn I could set up a virtual machine for you to login to and upload to some other site on a faster connection. Still would take a while, but better than loosing all the years of work you've put into this. I really wish youtube had a good competitor.
