Hello Pete, terrific channel...came across your channel by chance a few months ago. Never thought I’d be watching videos about my own language/slang and I don’t mind admitting I’ve learned one or two things along the way. I especially like the “Goldilocks” pace at which you speak to your audience. I give up, where in blazes did you find the word “discombobulated”. This is why I love our “Aussie English”, it’s just so bloody unique to the rest of the world...look at how many ways you found for “confused” for your subscribers; the way that one word can have so many different meanings e.g. the word blue; how we use “but” at the end of a sentence...I could go on. If I can “nit-pick” at something...you used the word “bunch” (meaning lots of) I think twice where most of us would say “heap/s”. It’s a word that I hear a lot of now in American shows/movies and it’s finding its way into our everyday speech. (Sorry, it’s just something that irks me.) I was just wondering if it was deliberate that you used “bunch” (for your international audience) or just “a slip of the tongue”. Again, a great channel that you have created Pete, thanks. I think you are providing invaluable insight to your international audience about our Australian vernacular. Cheers!

Yesterday, I was preparing for dinner for my host family and the host dad suddenly said that it's way too early and they'd had dinner at 6o'clock for the whole 5,6months I stayed with them. I was befuddled cause as far as I remember, this family has never had regular dinner time. It was different every day. But he looked quite convinced of what he said so I stopped cooking. Few minutes later, suddenly he came back and said "You were right. I was discombobulated. Sorry My bad." And I said "That's okay. I was puzzled. So can I keep cooking?" He answed embarresedly "Yes definitely."
