Buy a bulk bag of rough opal from Coober Pedy. It's a lucky dip of what's inside each rock with a trace of colour. I ended up with a birds egg sized blue opal by grinding and polishing some rough.

What they should do is buy a large neodymium magnet and place it on the cender of the shaft where is snapped and drop it back in then pull it up with the magnet
