AUSTER J-5G AUTOCAR TEST FLIGHT 14 12 23
After approximately 31 years of very dedicated restoration work undertaken by volunteers the Ex RAN A11 856 Auster J-5G Autocar took off for its test flight on 14 December 2023. The flight took place at the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society located at the Air Museum Illawarra Regional Airport , Albion Park NSW Ausralia.
The pilots took the aircraft on a test flight around the Airport assessing all the controls and equipment that included some successful stall testing.
Note , the flight observer/training pilot sitting in the Auster rear seat that was disguised for some reason as a Bear , gave the flight a highly successful thumbs up !
The Royal Australian Navy A11-300 856 was purchased in 1953 and sold in 1963.
