The ANX3429 is a DisplayPort to LVDS converter used in applications such as notebooks, tablets, and embedded display systems. It bridges DisplayPort signals (from a graphics processor or other sources) to LVDS (Low-Voltage Differential Signaling) for driving LCD panels. However, specific output voltage levels for the ANX3429 are not typically provided in public datasheets. This is because the ANX3429 primarily outputs LVDS signals, which are differential signals rather than single-ended voltage levels.

@@rincewindtvdinteresting I never heard of these USB killers before and I have dabbled in computer repairs for several years And wondered how they do their deed I was thinking that the USB killer is something that would build a charge in a capacitor and will release when the device is powered down and release through the power lines but then again that should be stopped in it's tracks with diodes since a diode only allows current to pass one way As for sending the current down a data line I'm going to have a safe bet that would wipe out pretty much anything sensitive such as CPU and PCH for example But in this case when he was testing the first laptop and was getting beeps on a coil by tights that shouldn't be happening as those coils are on the positive side so potentially a dead cap that's a well known problem with laptops had a few like that

@leehawk70682 ай бұрын
That's a good point Because first time I have heard of these USB killers and winder how they work At a guess I assume the capacitor inside stores power while laptop / device is switched on and then once device turned off it release the charge and possibly blow components in it's path But in reality it should stop any reverse current going back into the circuit when the current reaches a diode since diodes are one way But if it sends the charge down a data line then in most cases would be game over as it could take out many components including the CPU and PCH and on most modern laptops they are a bitch to replace

I wish when he was doing the search for shorts, he kinda explained better what the noises mean. Like, sometimes it beeps and sometimes it doesn’t. Kinda seems like one of those two would indicate something is wrong.
@jaym59382 ай бұрын
As he was stating, he doesn't have a schematic to determine whether the 'beeps' (indicating a short to ground) are supposed to be shorts to ground or an actual shorting of the circuit. If he had more experience he wouldn't need a schematic as he can visually map the traces and components... Sometimes you'll hear a beep as the multimeter is settling, but it isn't an actual constant beep that indicates a short.

I mean it becomes obvious because if it makes the wrong sound, he stops and will check it again but I don’t feel myself going along with him. That’s just my take.
