Austin Filmmaker's 18-Month Journey from Script to Screen

Filmmaker Mark Freiburger's first draft for "Between Borders" was written in just four weeks (while he had a full time job and a new born baby. Just 18 months after he started writing that script that film starts a limited but wide release today in the United States.
I interviewed Mark about the journey his 20-year career journey and how he was able to shoot the film in Romania (with cinematographer) in just 20 days.
My intro was recorded this past Monday during the halftime of the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame National Championship football game which also happened to be Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For some reason I felt the need to tie all of these things together. I hope you learn a few things about the filmmaking process-and the journey Cornelius Greene and his struggles in the 1970s as the first black starting quarterback at Ohio State.
The movie "Between Borders" will be in theaters January 2025.

Hello Bilad Ali. Man, when I was 15 I was still learning how to tie my shoelaces. If you've already written a 94 page screenplay you're way ahead of the game. Congrats. Your longline has a goal, stakes, conflict and (I'm guessing) urgency baked into it so that's a plus. Check the Facebook group The Inside Pitch. It's private, but anyone can join (as long as they're nice). You'll find writers of all levels who will give you detailed feedback on loglines.
