Very honored to have been selected as the winner of the 2021 Marvin Hamlisch International Music Awards in the “Musical Theatre Composition” category. It feels amazing to be recognized by the committee and of course have Idina Menzel announce the results! What an inspiring experience to have been a part of this event and be among so many talented composers.

A little background as to how the contest worked; each contestant was provided with an animated short film with the audio stripped. We then had to write a musical piece inspired by the picture we saw. The five nominees were chosen by a committee, then the winner was selected by a distinguished panel of judges.
