Austin GP-4 Low pass

cruise is 200 kts at 24 square. IO-360 lycoming. aircraft is far more sensitive in pitch than roll at high speeds but this doesn't bother me. this is a complex build but not difficult. it will take a lot of time to complete- at least 6000 hours. it's a great project and has outstanding performance. i still fly it and have no intentions of selling it... too much fun.

Can you tell me the height from the seat bottom to the top of the canopy? I'm 6'1"/240lbs just wondering if I'd fit in the GP4 . Thanks!

@@KCdurt The GP-4 was designed by George Pereira a 6'2" pilot. I'm 6'1 and 250# depending upon what time a day it is and while tight, I fit

@@KCdurt I'm 6''' 1" 240 lbs with most of my height in my torso. I tried on Don's cockpit for size a couple of years ago. It took a moment to slither into the cockpit/seat, but once in, I fit, and it was comfy, but my head did touch the clear bubble a bit on the left. I'm sure that I'll get used to mine after I get it done. If you don't have as much of your 6' 1" in your torso as I do, you should fit just fine.

Thanks for taking the time to record and post these vids. I love the GP-4. (George took me for a flight in his GP-4 years ago when I was visiting the U.S. I bought a set of plans on the spot!) Great camera angle, too.

Melbourne, Australia. The building is coming along very slowly, unfortunately. But that's probably every builders curse.... :-)

I absolutely love your plane and the HD Videos. Matter of fact, I watched all of your videos many, many times and watch them over and over again. It would be great if you could post more HD videos, possibly a walk around, some more High Speed passes, etc. I've searched out your name to see if you have a website detailing more about your plane, but couldn't seem to find anything. I should be sending off for the plans soon, but until then... going to rewatch this video once more!

1st thing I noticed was the lack of 40 odd full strokes of the Johnson bar!!!!!. Damn technology baby.

I have a couple of questions. Reading through the newsletters as well as some other forums, the cockpit may not actually be 40"... would that be accurate? smaller? The planes pitch sensitivity was mentioned a few times; how does your plane perform? Would you recommend building this to others, or is it too complex / time consuming? Do you still fly it? Is it your primary plane?

Thx. What is your cruise by the way? What engine? 6000 hours.... bah! I'm 43 and married, so if I can have it done in 10 years, then I'm good. I have patience like that of a rock.
