The 1963 models were so cool, because they had more power than before, retained the older classic dash setup--and most importantly, featured something new--roll-up windows!...I mean, the 64-67 Healeys were also nice, but I did not like the fake wood-grain dash, and the somewhat smaller gauges. Those final years did offer the most powerful engines--150bhp. The 1962 models featured the tri-carb setup, and are quite rare...but those carbs were a hassle to keep in tune!

I owned a 1966 Austin Healey 3000 MK 111 back in the 60's. Best made car I ever owned, but lived in Georgia and it's HOT in the summer there. Black leather seats and black rag top made it feel like sitting in a cast iron skillet. No A/C so finally sold it. Sure loved that car though.

I like the driving gloves; the ones I have are made of black nappa lambskin and really feel good on my leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob.

When I walked into a used car dealers office, back in 1969, to close the deal ($1200) on a 1959 Healey sitting on his lot--he had this impressive poster of an Austin-Healey, being driven hard, with the statement on it being "Austin-Healey...The Last Angry Sports Car!" Those of us here, who love Healeys, know exactly what that poster was proclaiming...uncompromising British style, fierce-sounding drive train, satisfying driving experience!

Mine had overdrive top end 140 mph. Don't do that.
