Lovely to see the estate. I used to be a taxi driver years ago, and at the time, almost every private hire taxi in our area was a diesel montego estate. They were very reliable, easily tuned to give a bit more power, and parts were so cheap so replace. To be fair, they drove very well too.

I owned three Montego Estates during the 80's and 90's my last one being the Countryman in British racing green. A fantastic car which I sold after clocking up 100,000 miles. Love the video, a real trip down memory lane, thank you.

I really enjoyed watching your video. Always thought that the estate Montego just looked right. I never had the opportunity to own one but admired them anyway. Cheers.

I absolutely love these Montegos! It is hard to pick a favourite, so I can see why you have more than one...

Hi !! I bought a dark red diesel estate in 2004 for £50 (MOT'd .. scrap man refused to take it) !! ... My poor Dad was crying at the wheel of his car and shouting not to buy it !! LOL ... I drove off and the engine just went "BLURRRRRR" (turbo was working) and paddled to the petrol station !! ... The 0-60 mph on minimum throttle was around 2 minutes !! ... It had "INTERGALACTIC" mpg (fuel gauge never moved) and after a long while the slowest it would cruise at was 70 mph on motorways !! .... The car was INCREDIBLE !! ....

I'd forgotten what a well thought out car the Montego estate was. Much more nicely proportioned styling than the saloon. Thanks for sharing

There's no wonder that countryman as a lovely stance with the boot full of logs. Very nice examples BTW 👍

Nice collection! I remember the Countryman was a limited edition for a while in 1987/88 before it became a permanent spec a year later. It must have been successful! Very neat design too, tidier than the saloon.

Good looking cars. The later turbo diesels were fairly quick.

Hey! Can you give me some more details on the Black car please, any engine mods? Injectors pump etc.

Can you tell me why their are two versions of the Montego bonnet badge? One has the cross design with the word ‘Montego’ crossing a vertical line & the other has simply the Montego name. As found on the 1990’s ‘Rover’ Montego.

it was a way of updating the car under the umbrella of "rover" Leyland cars
@jamessergeant21363 жыл бұрын
But I don’t think the Montego was ever officially badged as a Rover - they just removed the Austin badges.

Is that a 3-point centre seatbelt?
@handyautos4 жыл бұрын
It's just a lap belt in the centre Nimmo, but when not in use the belt stows vertically making it look like a 3-point belt.
