My friend used mine and broke the return string and stretched the belt because he held the bar down when he pulled the recoil. I replaced those items but now when I activate the head by squeezing the bar, it squeals and immediately dies. Any suggestions?

My guess is that the belt is on wrong. Remove the black debris shield, reference the belt installation decal that I show in this video, and then visually inspect the entire belt installation, comparing it to what is shown on the decal.

​@@austinado16it's the same belt path as the diagram. I also checked the idler wheels to make sure the bearings are good. I'm stumped.

@@cj4298 The belt can't be on correctly if it squeals and then kills the engine. The squealing is coming from the engine pulley burning up the belt, because the belt is unable to travel. So if both tensioner pulleys are freely spinning, both with the engagement bar relaxed, and with it pulled fully rearward, and bearings in the string head aren't seized, it's a belt path/belt installation issue. The belt would not be harmed by being held engaged and pulling on the pull starter, nor would that break a spring, so something else is going on. Has the belt come off the pulley for the string head, and is now laying below the pulley, where it gets jammed in tight when belt is tension, thus locking the belt, and killing the engine?

@@austinado16 I just checked the trimmer head and the bearing is seized. It doesn't spin freely with the bar disengaged. Thanks for the help!
