Something about when Linklater speaks makes me want to cry, he's just so genuine and you can tell he is a kind man

You have to admit that Linklater sounds pretty dumb here. Read the rest of my comments and there is no way you can see Linklater as anything but a total lightweight.

***** No I have been hearing about all the fuss made about Boyhood and I thought I would check out some of this video again and Linklater was just as atrocious as I remember.

joeb267382 A "fuss" well deserved because Boyhood is a remarkable film, like most critics pointed out, including the great socialist critic David Walsh: www.wsws.org/en/articles/2014/08/19/boyh-a19.html

8:03 - The fact that The Color of Money grossed more than The Last Temptation of Christ, After Hours, The King of Comedy and Raging Bull COMBINED tells you everything you need to know about cinema in the 1980s.

Armond White linked to this on his twitter account. He wrote on twitter "Almost complete and total ignorance about Godard but it explains Richard Linklater's own crap." Say whatever you want about Armond White, but he has an incredible grasp and understanding of Godard.

joeb267382 And comments like that explain Armond White’s own crap. Linklater is one of the most serious, humane and creative American filmmakers of his generation, like Jonathan Rosenbaum and Kent Jones, two of the best U.S. contemporary critics, realized many years ago. White is more of a bully and a charlatan than a serious critic or theorist, like James Agee, Many Farber, André Bazin, Andrew Sarris, Serge Daney, Rosenbaum, Jones, Jim Hoberman, David Walsh, or Adrian Martin.

When Linklater talks about Godard's issues with Truffaut he painfully exposes how clueless he is.

'This is hipster filmmaking at its most ignorant: Linklater, Delpy and Hawkes don’t seem to realize that Rossellini and Rohmer’s masterpieces were about miracles, not mundane naturalism.' - Armond White on Before Midnight
