Don't forget that Dwight brought his ego from Orlando to LA as well. D'Antoni wanted Dwight for mainly PnR but he wanted more post ups when Gasol is clearly the better post player. He should have focused more on rim running which could have saved his back from being injured and it would have made LA's offense that much better. Imagine Gasol and Nash just throwing lobs repeatedly to Dwight instead of him flailing his arms to get a good post position and failing at it.

The reason that Jeremy Lin's career took a nose dive is bc he got injured and never returned the same. He lost a significant amount of explosiveness & speed. He was never a strong defender but when he returned he became a huge defensive liability. Most harmful was that he lost his explosive first step which was crucial to his game bc his strength was penetrating the defense.
@robwebnoid57633 жыл бұрын
Lin should have worn kneepads on both knees since the beginning. If you watch Knicks footage, he mainly wore lower leg compression sleeves & maybe one or no kneepads. Since he likes zigzagging to the basket as aforementioned (penetrating defense), that will increase your chances of banging knees/bodies with other players. Kneepads might have helped him avoid that meniscus tear & he would have been in the playoffs, who knows. Hindsight is 20/20. As they say, practice prevention.
@bearwithme94333 жыл бұрын
A lot of players in the NBA have their downfall or fall short thanks to injuries or their roles being changed. Like Chris Paul and derrick rose who are known to be injury prone. And former star kevin love when he went to Cleveland. Many people criticize that he isn't actually good and that he only had those stats thanks for him being in a weak team but it's actually because he isn't playing the same role he originally did. Kevin Love used to go to down to the rim more in Minnesota but he sacrificed his stats and accepted his shooting role in Cleveland to help them win a championship. Jeremy Lin role in all of his teams was to score points and even though he isn't as explosive as he used to be, he became a better overall player. He became better at offball handling and a better shooter. So yes, injuries plagued his career but for the most part it's just him unable to play to his strengths and being unable to gain the opportunity to he had with the New York knicks.

Lin seems to play his best when he is the lead guard & the coach creates plays around him. It's also the chemistry with subordinate players, such as when he was with the Knicks, mainly without Melo. Introduce Melo, Harden, Kobe into the mix & making Lin 2nd level, then it somehow disrupted Lin. According to Lin, his best days playing were with Hornets.
@keithgupton93493 жыл бұрын
@@robwebnoid5763 you're right Lin best day's were with the Hornets. He was coming off the bench to provide much needed scoring to the second unit. But that wasn't good enough for him and he decided to leave Charlotte.
@robwebnoid57633 жыл бұрын
@@keithgupton9349 ... He should have stayed with Hornets one more season. He was already a fan favorite. It's like his Knicks tenure all over again by only staying for a season (technically only half season with Knicks due to lockout). That's what I did not like about Lin, always restless looking for the next best thing & not soaking up with what good you already have in front of you, i.e. Charlotte. As much as I wanted him to stay in NY, the situation was already set that made him leave (Dantoni pushed out, Houston poison pill offer, no offer from Knicks due to luxury taxes, his agent didn't want to lower offer with Houston, huge injury, some bits of racism, & Melo (as later verified by Amare ... & also by Dantoni & Tyson, iirc). Sure, that restlessness got him a championship ring, but it also got him out of the NBA where he wanted to be, as evidenced by him leaving CBA last season & things didn't pan out. I think he's going back to CBA. Oh well.

Doesn't matter if he was a warmer. The whole team and organization wins. There were bench warmers in every NBA finals for ~75 years (and warmers in the ABA before that), yet no one really talks down about them. It is what it is, Raptors were already stacked, Lin wasn't really gelling with the team as he was a mid-season trade & so coach didn't need him in the end, yet Lin was still part of the team. Only thing is that I wish Lin stayed in Charlotte for one more season to play for Jordan. That's the only issue I have with Lin, he keeps looking for greener pastures, i.e. a journeyman.

I remember Melo in college when he won the National championship in Syracuse, and back then he was a very humble kid and basketball player. Had Melo been drafted by the Detroit Pistons he would have been put in his place by some grown A$$ men who were not playing games and wanted to WIN as a team and establish a legacy of great basketball in MoTown!! S’heed, Ben Wallace, and Melo as a potential front court is a scary notion, that would have given the Pistons a tough defense with a hard working mentality, and a legitimate #1 option on offense to bolster the scoring load. I am sad as HELL that Boston let Mr. BIG Shot go, but that was a BAD man who fit very well into the city of Detroit and the Pistons basketball image in general. That chase down block on Reggie Miller by Tayshaun Prince is still burned into my vision and soul too, and the look on Reggie’s face was priceless!! I was in leadership training again at Fort Knox, KY and I will always remember that Finals where they took the Lakers to SCHOOL!!
