It's a joke. Building a machine to drop rubbish in one of 4 bins. People are fuckn lazy.

I've been in that industry for about 27 years, the answer is, put a price on everything, when there's money attached, just stand back and watch them go.

It is NOT introduced NOW In Australia, household waste separation and collection of wastes in separate bins is ongoing since late 80's. Also there are huge containers outside every Malls for disposal where people go and dump large items i.e, extra furniture, mattress, bicycle and large items that are reusable.

This is a cool solution, my idea was to use the sound the object makes to identify the material. For instance glass, tin cans, paper and plastic all make distinctive sounds when 'falling onto a metal plate. Extra plus point is that even if the shape of the material changes, it still makes the same sound. That's a little harder when trying to identify a crushed soda can or bottle. 👌😀

Here’s the bright side at least you won’t have to cut down any more rain forest anymore I bet this will make it easy for the rainforest to recover there and the tree planters will have an easier time helping rainforests that Have been deforested recover

Each machine just costs $5000 per unit, and requires yearly maintenance and support of $1000. Life of the machine is 5 years, after which this machine will be replaced with newer model. There is no telling whether this machine itself is cycle-able or it would end up in the landfill.

Could be made loads easier by regulating container styles rather than using AI. Companies vary their packaging for 2 reasons, to stand out...and to cover the product making it seem more than there is. Only one of those reasons has any merit, for the consumer though every single container is different which means they have to learn for every single container type. Regulating containers would also be cost and space efficient as while minimizing the product waste if they're all designed with those goals in mind.

They left that part out for another episode. But, I herd the AI senses it full, bags and ties it, and when it senses the tucks coming down the street, it then shoots it out to the street for the trash truck and recycle truck to pick it up. Scuttle but was, their timing was off and either the AI was late and other vehicles run it over or they were early and the trucks run the bags over.
