I agree we are in a recession, but I don't really read too much into the strength of our dollar compared to the USD, America is 225 trillion in debt (including unfunded liability's) so it's more like the USD is the best of a bad bunch rather than a true gauge of strength. The other thing I would disagree with is the renewables, Solar and wind are not renewable they have limited life spans of around 20 years and are not recyclable & require large amounts of rare earth minerals to produce along with "fossil fuels" , Personally I believe if we can't burn coal then cold fusion energy is the way forward. The biggest concern with this country for me is that it is a technocratic nanny state , I personally don't believe voting makes any real difference and don't see Australia ever returning to anything that resembles the country I grew up in. Saying that there is one thing that could change our fate but I see zero chance of it happening but that is for Australia to become a republic, and the people have a say in a bill of rights protecting basic freedoms, As I said it wont happen but it's nice to dream. If my circumstances were different, I would be moving to either Arkansas, Texas, Argentina or Paraguay all have different positives and negatives, but they all enjoy basic freedoms that no longer exist here, and the cost of living is cheaper to much cheaper.

Australia needs a good recession. Recessions are needed for a stable long term economy. It is a natural cycle of supply and demand. To avoid recessions, governments print money, causing huge inflation. Recesion hurts some people, but inflation hurts all people. The government and the people have made the wrong choice to avoid recessions.
@CarlTravels10 күн бұрын
That’s an interesting perspective, and I see where you're coming from! Recessions are definitely part of the natural economic cycle, and trying to avoid them at all costs often comes with unintended consequences like inflation, as you mentioned. The key, though, is ensuring the impacts of these cycles are managed in a way that doesn't disproportionately harm the most vulnerable

Yeah Australia is absolutely pathetic considering the wealth per population we had ,to have people homeless and people grinding and heading down hill from corporate greed , inflation and de industrialisation is really disappointing, but other parts of west have similar issues. Most of our roads were built before the car and thus explains a lot of the tendency to be curvy and indirect. Most early cars were very under powered and slow. Its the Cross of St Peter, it means Humility. St Peter didn't want to be crucified in the same way jesus did, so he asked to be hung upside down as he didn't feel worthy. The church of St Peter is in Korcula (Croatia) ,where Carl's family is from.
