Australia‘s most western tracks (we found sharks!) - EP 110

They say it is a useless loop road, so we went for it... and it was not disappointing!
After a delays on our car shipment to Australia and an engine breakdown, this week, we finally have the feeling that we are travelling again. And what a journey. We take on the challenge to reach mainland Australia's westernmost point, on the edges of the Shark Bay Area. The place surely wears its name well... (spoiler: we saw the biggest sharks we have ever seen).

Most eastern point is at Byron Bay, most north is Cape York and most shoutherly is Cockle Point in Tasmania. Loved the video, great camera work and presentation.

I’m sure someone’s mentioned it already, but the most easterly point of Australia is Byron Bay. Been there. 😉 I’ve not been to Shark Bay on my travels, only driven past. It looks amazing. Also, great video again. It really looks like you’ve found your particular way of making videos. Love it!!

This was an epic episode for sure! This has to be one of the most remote, but untouched places I have ever seen. Plus, the video was so well shot and even the music was cool (nice incorporation of the didgeridoo). Awesome adventure. Anyone watching you guys should be inspired to get out there and enjoy life. Wife and I are about to start our own four month adventure traveling from FL to AK and we can't wait. We're pulling a small tear drop travel trailer and while I would love a Land Rover or an old Toyota Land Cruiser or Sprinter, my wife of 45 years has said NOPE, I need a shower and a/c. The tracks in the northern territory are worse on your vehicle. The ‘roads’ through there even Australians hesitate to drive. They are notorious for destroying vehicles. When you go through there you will see a lot of wrecked vehicles on the roadsides. Was that an Emu Export? I havent drunk that since i was 15. Its notoriously terrible stuff. By the way, thanks for the video. I havent been up there for years - medical issues have kept me busy - but its one of my favourite areas. Ive been all over Asia and Africa but shark bay region is where i get reminded of how small i am in the scheme of things. You can video or photograph those sunsets but you can never capture how they feel. They have to be experienced, especially on the days they turn the world red. Looking forward to cape peron. Peron was on Baudin’s expedition (which is why all the french place names in WA). He was as important as Joseph Banks but he is sadly overlooked these days.

Great to see you guys in Australia and with a new engine! ...This video is a little over dramatic re the WA roads and desert romanticism. More than half the Australian continent is desert. You’ll get used to it. There are many far rougher roads to come, which are simply normal for anyone who lives in northern Australia. Safe travels and slow down to enjoy :)

Since you will be in Australia for a while and probably near water a lot of the time, why don't you buy a boat, then sell it before you leave? On second thought, many of those roads you drive would probably destroy a boat on a trailer or make them more difficult. New travel partners. That should be fun. hhahahahha excelent question. So it is forbidden to drive bare feet or with flip flops. flip flops it is because they can slide and you d loose grip of the pedals that could create an accident. bare feet they say it is because if you hurt your feet on the pedals you could loose control or if you have an accident and need to exit the car you could hurt yourself.... it is serious you can get fined for thathhahahah

thats likely to be HammerHead Shark 🦈 chasing Rays in Shallows. Generally they dont attack humans etc.

Yep it was a hammerhead. Distinctive long upright dorsal fin. Pretty harmless. Theres never been a human fatality anywhere in the world from hammerheads and only a handful of recorded attacks worldwide.

The color of the water is beautiful, but I do not like the landscape of this part of Australia, it is very boring and I don't like the sharks and I don't like all the bugs. I think I would be more into the northeastern part of Australia where it's very tropical. ❤

Its not really boring at all. Its like being on mars - and there are things there you will see nowhere else in the world. Even the sunsets are probably like nowhere else on earth. Its beautiful.

East = Byron Bay, north = the top of Cape York, south is Mornington Peninsula and in the middle is the geographical centre. 👍🏻🙏🦘
