Yes that was Richard Charlesworth who is arguably one of the Australian all time hockey greats.Charledworth was a member of the Australian team that had handed India's its worst ever international hockey defeat when Australia trounced the then World champions 6-1 at the 1976 Montreal Olympics.

Yes this is indeed the finest ever Australian team ever to win the World Cup hockey tournament held in 2014 in the Hague. In all its five Pool A matches the Kockaburras were on a scoring spree with 19 goals and conceding only one.Even India winners in 1975 were hammered 4-0. And in the semifinals the Kockaburras trounced Argentina 5-1 to set up a meeting with the Netherlands.But the home team too were at the receiving end of a 6-1 beating leaving the Dutch players in a state of a shell shocked and many were in tears.It was the biggest margin win ever recorded in a World Cup hockey final.

Hockey is such a brilliant game and the Australian teams are just pure class. It's a shame that the majority of the comments on this video is just incompetent Americans that can't work out why they aren't playing on ice. Also to those saying that hockey is just a girly sport then clearly you haven't watched this video as we see players getting hit in the head and so on, it is a very dangerous sport. People stop comparing hockey to soccer (football) it's not the same, never was never will be. Soccer is also an excellent sport but it is vastly different to hockey.

There you are boys and girls, how do you win against a team that are as fit as you, work as hard as you and are as skilful as you? Beat them up, the umpires made the difference in this game for favouring the 'Aussie rules' tactics of the Australians and if the Dutch had responded in kind there would have been a bloodbath on that pitch . For the record Australia Hockey is not a contact sport!

only the germans can match australia for pace, power ,technique,teamwork+discipline.they were compromised by increased flair and absence of furste who normally has same if not greater impact than knowles.the dutch were frail and focused too much on flair and did not feed of the crowd like the germans in 2006 and refused to be bullied into submission

Football has more athleticism, skills and action but hockey is more fast and entertaining than football because of its high scores. In many football matches especially in knock out games we have to wait for 50., 60 or 70s minutes to see a single goal . Many of the matches end up with boring results like 0-0, 0-1, 1-1 kind score. In this case hockey is more exciting due to a shorter ground, artificial turf and no off side rules . Football is also a exciting game if there are goals but in many matches it waste too much . What is the benefit of running too much when there is no goal ??? , Nobody get nothing for too much hard work and sportsmanship In this case Hockey is more entertaining and exciting . In my opinion in a modern era where defenders are too tough to face , football should change in rule to make it exciting . FIFA should either reduce the size of a ground or distance of goals and make the goals more wider .
