Australia in that particular era right after that 1999 World Cup Semifinal became a different beast altogether. They had world class match winners in buckets, and enormous self belief. @Shashwat mishra wouldn't have made a difference....that Aussie team was simply too powerful even without McGrath and Hayden. With both players added to the 2007 WC team along with Tait and Hogg Australia was simply a killing machine at that tournament. Had it not been for rain in the Super 8s against Bangladesh and shortened and light affected final they would've been the only team to win a WC bowling out every team in the WC like how they bowled out the World XI in all 3 ODIs and that lone test.

@Shashwat mishra Players were selected on the basis of present performance..Sachin was injured..And Flintoff was a match winning all rounder..And he was a very good fast bowler..He was capable of bowling at 150 km/h speed and had bounce as well.Ganguly in 2005 can't be picked in a World XI. If this team was made in 2001 instead than Saurabh Ganguly had a fair chance to make his way into the World xi
