Hey Mate, recently did passed my assessment day and thought I'd share my experience with everyone. Rocked up early and studied everything in my note book regarding my two selected preferences (Chippie and Comb Eng). Then go up and get told about what you're gonna do the whole day, get Ur paperwork and get ready. First U do a colour blind test. Afterwards I then did my medical, psych then interview. Some people get those in different orders too say you might get psych and do your interview before full medical. Medical is pretty straight forward do U drink. no. Do you do drugs. No. Then he does a bunch of motion and flexibility movements with your joints. Makes sure you can do pushups and situps and peeks at your ball bush for cancer or smth. You get heaps of time to study more after as well after maybe 3-4 hours went and did my psych. Got pretty personal about family and personal life and but don't get too emotional or give them anything to worry about and your sweet. They're just there as a second opinion to your interviewer on your suitability for the army. Then do your interview and I was asked questions like, Tell me what you know about Kapooka, What is your IETs for prefs, what makes the army so appealing why not civvie jobs, how do you feel about using a service weapon in the army. And along those lines. Then got told I passed, got a coordinater and got booked kapooka may 25.

Hey Cas, here to ask about my enlistment as infantry soldier into the adf. I currently have this down as the only role on my application as there is nothing else of interest to me after looking through everything and having unlocked everything on my aptitude test. I’m curious to ask if having 1 preference is going to poorly impact me as I’m constantly asked by case managers whether I’d like to add another preference/preferences. Thanks Cas! PS I’m only 16 and a half and applied as soon as I turned 16 and a half as I’m incredibly eager to serve and ultimately join the SASR or Commando regiment.

I am considering attempting to join the reserves. My reasons are simple. Maturity Development And most of training. With the current motion of the world I don't want to run if a fight comes to us or be given a weapon with minimal training like our brothers in Ukraine. I want to learn how to clean, load and use that weapon safely and effectively when I have to. I am prepared to leave my young family tomorrow if it means the ADF can offer me training and the skills to protect my family and country in a time of war. However, I would not like to go to war. I want nothing to do with war but if a Chinese ship rocks up on our shores I want to be ready and trained. Is this a dumb reason to want to go in? Or is there another path I should take like firearms training?
@inthetrencheswithcas17622 жыл бұрын

Can you do a video on abuse/bullying in the ADF? Considering its a major part on the defence force and contributes to some soldiers committing suicide. Hard topic to speak on, lets see how you go.
@inthetrencheswithcas17624 жыл бұрын
Fall Of Shot I actually don’t think it’s a major problem at all mate but it is a bi product strong characters, high stress environment, adverse conditions and rank structures mixed with double standards and infiltration of identity politics and victim mentality... Being told what to do and or not agreeing with what you have to do is different to a ongoing sustained attack designed to harm and I have seen bulling but also false claims due to weakness, poor results/ performance and or failure to accept responsibility for own actions... This would be better delivered as several older long serving ex veterans doing a round table discussion on the subject... What did you have in mind if you can clarify
@kingofaslav4 жыл бұрын
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 I have been serving for 14 years. What you have said has nothing to do with it. Bullying and abuse is RAMPANT within defence. How long have you been out? ADF is the only organisation to have a sexual abuse department (SEMPRO)...I wonder why. This year only, just on my brigade there have been 2 suicides related to bullying and 3 rapes on base. Weird how its been kept super quite. Hazing activities gone out of control as well as SNCO’s using their position of power to young diggers detriment. I have evidence of defence cover ups and abuse of powers as well as acknowledging racial vilification and doing nothing about it. Identity poultices and victim mentality have nothing to do with it.
@inthetrencheswithcas17624 жыл бұрын
Fall Of Shot every department has a sexual abuse department it’s called the police department.. Be careful not to believe every rumour or allegation you hear to mate, ADF is not perfect but any and every allegation is taken extremely seriously and action is taken immediately when accusations are made.. I have had a lot of experience around they subjects within military but this is not the place to comment on such issues
@LorenisShining4 жыл бұрын
@@kingofaslav I can't in good conscience go past this comment without bringing it to the attention of the relevant authorities. The ADF does not have, according to statistics a higher prevalence of sexual assaults than other industries. The ADF has been the focus of many inquiries and even the child abuse royal commission nothing is being covered up unless it being covered up by the victims who will not report the abuses happening to the relevant authorities which will always be the police. The role of SEMPRO is not to investigate criminal matters which sexual assault would fall under that is and always was the role of the police. If there was 3 rapes reported on your base they would have made an appearance on the hot issue briefings and had they been reported inside the ADF would have been referred to the police to be dealt with. Because you are just an anonymous pseudonym on the internet and haven't provided details of which base or what this supposed evidence of "cover ups" is we have no way of fact checking your information. This is why I have sent your KZbin handle and screenshots of your comments onto the relevant authorities, being the police and the ADF for them to answer the serious allegations you have accused them of. I could not walk past an individual disclosing actual criminal acts on a public forum without doing so. I will certainly follow this story and wait to see what the police, media and ADF have to say before making up my mind about the legitimacy of your claims.
@LorenisShining4 жыл бұрын
@@kingofaslav so you get to just throw around serious accusations and complain they don’t address it, yet won’t make them aware of the problem yet I’m the idiot 🤔 do you consider yourself a logical person? The police will most definitely look into you and your accusations so you should be relieved and also perhaps take your “evidence” of cover ups to the commonwealth ombudsman or the fed police or any number of the avenues you have rather than a public Internet forum would seem more rational to me ☺️

Hey cas I would just like to ask. Are there many arithmetic questions in the aptitude? Also what score do you need to pass?
@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Жыл бұрын
Remember you also need a pass on maths for at least a year ten certificate and yes there will be maths within the aptitude test along with problem solving etc .. Have you got the pass on record from school? The aptitude determines the roles you unlock..

Gday Cas i have a question. I am currently enlisting in the ADF gap year program as an infantry solider. I will be sent to kapooka in January or Febuary. I have passed all the tests and sessions and just finished up doing the blood check. However, i plan on doing the 4 year contract anyway, i know the army is for me, i am incredible excited and just biting at the bit to go. In your opinion mate, is there much point in me doing the gap year program THEN going the 4 year contract? I would love to hear your thoughts mate.

How hard was the Aptitude test? From looking online it looks pretty difficult 😩
@bug45614 жыл бұрын
@@acoustic3337 Hey mate. Yeah look, they will send you some sample questions via email the closer you get to doing the test. Honestly mate it isn't too difficult and they will tell you its not something you can really study for (make sure you do actually have a run through the sample questions before though). You are competing against thousands of applicants and not everyone can get in so just do your best. It looks scarier than it actually is. I didnt actually study at all for it and it went completely fine, i still got all the different job offers but give me that infantry 😆. Hope this helps

is it true having things like knee injuries will stop you from getting in?
@JD-jc5hg3 жыл бұрын
Talk to Defense Force Recruting about it. Knee, hip, back, ankle etc, all those injuries are generally red flags & you will be classed medically unfit. From the Army's point of view, you have an injury & you have a high chance of not completeing training & a higher chance of being furhter injured. They will have to foot the bill & it's not a good investment

Contact Defense Force Recruiting & talk to them about it. Generally speaking, it's a flat no, you need an Australian citizensship, but in rare situations, they will accept permanent residents & then give you a citizenship. This only occures if you're apply for a very specialised role which no other Australians or not many are willing to apply for
