Jewel is an Australian Brumby. (Mustang / Wild Horse)
After her family was rounded up out of Oxley Wild Rivers NP, from potential government slaughter in 2015. Jewel opened her eyes at a sanctuary in the November same year, a storm at large at the time of her birth, gave her a nickname she held for years by all who adored her.... Storm.
Fast forward a few years, she's a feisty teenager with a lust for testing her human companions.
In 2020, Storm clung to a new equine companion, and wasn't about to let her Thoroughbred friend out of her sight. Stuck together like glue, her carers didn't want to separate them, and in May 2021, was sent to one of their volunteers (Me) to learn some manners and formal training.
Since then, now known by her registered name "Jewel", has blossomed into a well behaved little brumby, still cheeky and feisty when she wants to be, but is learning that ways of humans isn't all bad, scary things come and go, and is learning to relax even with strange human ways.

One sunny day in December, I put my horse in the barn before Sundown. It snowed that night. When I went to put him out the next morning, he looked outside, and stopped. Turning his head, he gave me the most accusing look I've ever received in my life! If he could talk, I know he would have said, _"WHAT DID YOU DO???!!!"_ I still get this look every time something has changed, or is out of the ordinary. He may not know exactly what's wrong, but he's certain it's ALL MY FAULT!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Even when he popped the inflatable beach ball I got him one year! That was 100% MY fault! Even though I was at work at the time! (No excuse!) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haha Kahu sulks when he's told off... literally wonders off head down a few meters away before coming back on his own a few minutes later looking cute, like "You love me really?... right?".. It must be a gelding thing to show expression so much more than mares, lol
