Thanks for the video. I've had crested pigeons nest and bear chicks twice in the last 6 months. I have checked on them almost daily, and made the same clicking sound each time. I studied psychology a long time ago, behaviourism, Skinner etc. They now are tame enough for me to get within a metre or so, if I make the same noise. Interesting that if you become a consistent part of their family, and offer no threat, and also no reward, you become part of the furniture, so to speak. Great video.

Hi Daz! Great video. Question from Lishana: How did those birds get to Australia? Thought I'd allow you to tackle that question. 😁😁😁 Karene
@MyAussieGardenKitchen3 жыл бұрын
G'day Karene. Please tell Lishana that I used my magic wand and made them appear by using my wizard skills. 😁 Or you could say that I am not sure. I do know that Australia is an island, but it used to be connected to other parts of the world a verrrrrrrry long time ago, so some animals got stuck on the island and they have changed over a very lonnnnnnng time. Good luck explaining that one. I'll let you tackle that reply now. 😁 All the best, Daz.😊

I just rescued a young one off my house roof at midnight just now 27/8/22 as I thought it was a possum. It's now settled down and roosting after I had this on loop for 3 or so plays . Relaxed the bird down. I presume it's from a nest but what now should I do with it and it's comfortable watching me drink rum.. Great video 🤙
@MyAussieGardenKitchen2 жыл бұрын
G'day mate. Ah, the poor little one. They are amazing birds. I rescued one from a cat last year and it spent the night in a box, but the next day it took off when it was ready. Hopefully your one will be right, but if it's too young a local vet should take it and look after it. I might need some water, but don't get that mixed up with the rum mate. 😁 I hope it all goes well Gary and all the best. Daz.

I have Mourning Doves at my feeders, and they often raise one wing and aggressively flap as nearby birds to chase them away. Pigeons do it too, sometimes.

G'day. I'm just using the grain mix that I feed to my chickens. They fly in and eat from my chickens feeders, so I started giving them that and they clear it out every time. It's nice to hear you have a pair there. They are so beautiful and some of the ones here land near me and call me for food. I have seen that there are grain mixes that you can by for pigeons and other birds at pet shops too. Good luck and all the best. Daz.
