The tubes are awesome. They used to have them in the Canadian rations, peanut butter, honey etc. The peanut butter was a popular "pocket" food for snacks. Just open it up eat like an Apollo astronaut put the lid on and back to the pocket. Also made thing a lot cleaner as now they are the little plastic pack (lighter and cheaper) but once opened you are commited to use it all at once and have to find a spot for the garbage whereas before you put the lid on and could just toss it in your pocket until later.

Pretty sure Warren puts condensed milk into his porridge when camping. I couldn’t think what to do with it either.. maybe in the coffee?

That looks like one of the better MRE packs. When are you going to venture out camping again?

Was good overall, got a camping video on the edit system and a Welsh mountain walk coming up as well so a few in the pipeline!

G'day Rob, yeah a few wins and losses there mate. Used to work in Def logistics for many years and like all countries, I can tell you that a shipload of research goes into these things. Certainly a lot is always gonna come down to personal taste, but no excuses for those matches though, lol. Interesting the tubes are still used, been around for just about ever. I dont like 'em,. too easy to squash in a pack unless stored in a rigid container. The ol' vegemite aint for everyone and many people use way way too much on first try and it puts them off for life. Ironically its yeast extract from beer brewing, I'm sure you are aware alcohol strangles B vitamins, yet vegemite is full of them; perhaps they should just leave it in to start with, lol. Btw; my understanding is tomato sauce is essentially that. Ketchup = tomatos + a myriad of other possible ingredients, like a US BBQ or brown sauce. I reckon the sauces have been muddied by preservatives, food dyes etc and certainly marketing. Have you had a crack at an Indian offering ? Might be interesting for us curry/spice lovers. P.S. would be useful to folks to do a DIY MRE, like maybe take bit's 'n pieces from various MREs + some supermarket items, perhaps a quality trail mix, to satisfy ease of prep, taste and KJ, just a thought mate, having done so many, you're in the perfect position to do so.

That looked like a good mre pack, until you put ketchup with the lamb and mash 🤢🤢🤢 on the whole though, plenty to eat over 24hrs. Lots of calories carbs and sugar, nice one Rob.
