Thank you so much for this review. I was pondering whether to buy this, and your review was very helpful. I think I'll save my money. Your review was most excellent with showing exactly what the results would be!

I saw this product today (April 2024) for $30 in the post office and thought that the Australian Geographic label would promise a good product. I too was disappointed. For starters they should put a diagram labelling the parts into the kit. The tripod was useless as it is unstable with the weight of the mangifier attached to it. Trying to align the phone camera lense whilst manoeuvring the phone holder off to the side was annoying. You would need to mount this onto a proper stable camera tripod. You have to firstly put your camera phone onto full zoom, make sure that the back portion of the magnifier is pushed well into the unit (as it slides about 5 mm backwards), adjust the tiny focus wheel and you end up with such a small area that is actually magnified that this item is probably quiet useless. Yes, you could use the video feature of your phone to zoom in on a distant item (and use the telephoto magnifier to bring that item a little closer) but you'd be better off buying a decent camera. I might try to use it when I go out painting in the landscape to see if I can get closer images of distant subject matter, but I am thinking that this item will end up at the op-shop pretty soon.

@crystalheart5877 Yes, I expected the Australian Geographic endorsement to carry some weight and was likewise disappointed.

I just got my one off the Australia post FB page $40 and it’s totally rubbish, the weight of my iPhone 13pro falls OFF the scope and not even holds it’s weight. I have 3 lens and I have tried all 3 and it won’t line up or even focus. The light goes between the lens and the scope so it won’t focus. 😢I’ll try to get a full refund. I know my way around cameras and this is rubbish for a brand like National Geographic plus for Australia post to sell something that feels and operates like a toy, your find a Kmart.

Yeah, I was less than impressed. However I gave it to a young fella at work and he has made it work for him.

Yeah, it's definitely a balancing act. I found it was really hard to get it to sit on a small tripod without overbalancing.

Yeah, took a bit of working out. I gave mine away to a workmate who likes taking pics with his phone.

Bought this recently. No good for phones that have the cameras on the side. Hard to get the correct position
@WoodyMotorcycleEnthusiast6 ай бұрын
Yes that's correct, kind of a 'one size fits all but actually fits very few.'
