Thank you for pointing out that a saddle should fit *without* a blanket, and that the only reason for using a blanket is to save the saddle. Sooooo many people seem to think you can "fix" an ill fitting saddle with "more padding" -- not realizing they are likely making things worse for the horse, rather than better. (Saddle too tight -- it gets tighter. Saddle too wide -- it's making it wider.)

Wondering why he measured directly behind the shoulder and not 5 cm back from there, to allow for the shoulder to come back as the leg moves forward? I understood this was imperative to prevent damage to the shoulder blade. Also wondering why he did not measure the shoulder blade angle to match with the tree point angle? I would have thought that to be a basic and necessary match? Clearly that old mare has suffered some ill fitting saddles in her time. Evidenced by the atrophy of her thoracic trapezius muscles (from a too tight tree?) and the white hairs on her wither. Wonder what brand they were?

Isn't anyone gonna talk about the Sway Back that the horse had? Wither is too high, rump is too high, back is too low. Getting a sway back there...not good for the horse..
