"Why are they called SEVENTEEN is there's only 12 members ?" *S.Coups screaming in the distance* I saw some people already explained the whole 13 + 3 + 1 =17 thing, so I'll just add something. They are a self-produced group, the guy with red hair, Hoshi, is the leader of the performance team and he's the one in charge of all their choreographies. Also Woozi, the short guy with black hair, is the leader of the vocal team and also the composer, producer of the group. They were called the "rookie monsters" when they debuted in 2015 due to their success. The overall leader of the group is called S.Coups, it's the guy with blond silver hair, he's also the leader of Hip hop team.

Just to explain the real reason for the name, they actually used to have seventeen members prior to debut, but four of them left and they decided to keep the name because people were so used to it (they had a show called Seventeen TV that aired several seasons prior to their debut, where people could watch them train in their practice room via webcams mounted inside the room; the episodes are available to watch on youtube, though I'm not sure if all of them have subtitles). Of the four members that left, one of them debuted as Punch in the duo OnePunch (which disbanded eight months later), then re-debuted this year as a soloist going by his real name, Samuel. Dongjin went home and seems to have abandoned the entertainment industry altogether (no one's heard anything about him since he left). Doyoon switched over to acting, and Mingming debuted in BLK a couple months ago. Mingming and Doyoon are also now on the show MixNine.

Kelsey W To follow up on this, the way Seventeen now define their name to avoid changing it was splitting the 13 members into three sub-units that perform their own separate songs as well as performing as a whole group. Vocal Unit (made up of the main singers), Hiphop Unit (made up of the main rappers) and Performance Unit (made up of the main dancers). each unit has a Unit Leader who is in charge of writing and composing the songs (Woozi in Vocal), helping write the raps (S.Coups - He's also the main leader of the whole group. He's the oldest, He is dad. Our Father.) and coming up with all the choreography to every song (Hoshi in Performance.) they all help eachother out to lessen the strain and burden of having one huge job to do, but that's kind of how the group works :) I'm gonna list all the members via their unit now with a fact to know about them, just in case you're interested. X VOCAL UNIT Woozi - (leader of the Unit, writes and composes almost every song, is really really short, standing at like 5"4 or smth. Doesn't like to be cute, is just naturally cute) Jeonghan - (second oldest in the group. A devil in disguise, used to have incredible long hair but it's shorter now, has a very unique" nasal" voice :)) Joshua - (t hird oldest of the group, came from America, so is fluent in English. Is one of the two main English speakers in the group, visuals for the GODS) DK - (one of the younger members, one of the loudest members of the group. Very VERY wide vocal range, could honestly be Koreas next top model. We call him Dokyeom so it doesn't sound like we mean Donkey Kong) Seungkwan - (Third youngest, BFF'S with Vernon, probably the loudest in the group, is from Jeju and LOVES to let you know, again has a very very wide vocal range, soft boy :')) HIPHOP UNIT S.coups - (leader of the Unit, overall leader of the whole group due to being the oldest. Is a dad, has a rlly cute friendship with Jeonghan, auditioned and was accepted into training with singing, but was then taught to rap.) Mingyu - (one of the younger members, the official visual (face of the group), has melanin for the GODS, kinda rap-sings? Has a v nice voice^^ is a puppy, bad hygiene = MingEw) Wonwoo - (very quiet baby, bookworm, will recommend good books to fans, the most dapper rapper, always looks good, is known for his deep voice.) Vernon - (second youngest, came from America, is the other half of the main English speakers, looked a lot like Leo Dicaprio in early eras (pre-debut and "Adore U" specifically) has a solo rap track called Lotto~) PERFORMANCE UNIT Hoshi - (leader of this unit, has had every hair colour under the sun, is the main choreographer, is one of the loudesg members, has way too much energy, once battled to the death a ith Seungkwan to be picked as the 12th most handsome in the group has a wonderful unique voice, recently showed his rap too on Bring It :)) Jun - (one of two Chinese members, trained in martial arts and wushu, is also an actor in China, never really got lines due to a strong accent, but was given a duet with the other Chinese member Minghao :):):) incredible dance, secret visual, just a great guy all round) The8 (Minghao) - (The other Chinese member, almost had no lines at all due to having a very string accent and struggling with Korean, trained in martial arts, is a B-boy, does his best, also a secret visual, has a gorgeously adorable voice, IS VERY thin sometimes we worry about his weight, but he seems to be naturally skinny) Dino (pronounced Deeno)- (Youngest member (recently turned 18) is a rapper, VERY GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES, hates being called a Baby, used to have awful hair and shit but it was eventually fixed thank God, he's glowing up^^) That was long, sorry 😂😂

Highly recommended is Blood Sweat and Tears from BTS! They have too many good Music Videos. I t depends on what type of music you want to listen. BTS have music with different genres. BTS have 7 members. BTS is the biggest boy band to date! MIC Drop is on their latest album Love Yourself: HER. when they went to Las Vegas for their nomination at the 2017 BBMAs Social Media Artist Award which they actually won against Justine Bieber, Selena Gomez, Arianna Grande and Shawn Mendes they met Steve Aoki and did a collaboration with him which is the MIC Drop remix version. BTS is also known for their synchronized choreography. they were also invited to perform on AMA 2017 which they did. they also guested on Jimmy Kimmel Show, The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Ellen Degeneres Show. Seventeen has 13 members and they're some of the best dancers in KPOP!

Oh give me a break. Do you know how hard other groups work to be successful too? And then there's people like you claiming that BTS is the best group, because I bet they're the only group you have tried to actually enjoy. They're are plenty of other groups with BTS' talent. For example Seventeen. They produce ALL of their music, and ALL of their choreography which is something even BTS doesn't do. They work extremely hard, and are all beautiful people too. Their Spring day song mv was based from the short story of The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K Le Guin. In Spring day mv they also make a reference to Snowpiercer, a movie where all of humanity / the population has been forced to live on a train since the world around them is frozen and uninhabitable. Many more symbolic, subject& topic surrounding their music&mv. You'll be amazed of how truly talented they were in composing& producing their own song.

"Are they all in the band?" - LITERALLY ME THE FIRST TIME I WATCHED BTS It's definitely something you get used to. After a while you start going "are there ONLY 7?" & I'm so glad you liked Seventeen. They have the best choreography in my opinion because it's not your traditional dance, it's more modern and expressive and it's kind of like watching a damn musical every time. I don't know if you'll see this but you should watch their dance practices for Pretty U, Aju Nice, Boom Boom, Don't Wanna Cry, or Crazy In Love!

As far as I know, then there were originally 17 people signed up to be in seventeen, but for some reason some of them didn’t make it, and now there are “only” 13 members, which I still believe is the biggest k-pop group out there :-)
