As Pentatonix's fortunes have improved over the years, they have been able to afford more and better mics. In 2020, they were quarantined in separate apartments. Their label helped them each set up an audio / video recording space in their home, their vocal editor merged the recordings together and they released an EP with a home theme. If you watch the video for "When the Party's Over" (a Billie Eilish cover) you can see that they each have a different mic.

I hear what you say about the bass line, and for this video, I think you have a point. (And this from an Avi girl!) I've noticed the same thing about some of the beatboxing in the very early days, too. Overall, though, I appreciate that they bring in enough bass to be able to identify it, since Avi has such a superb lower register (which usually gets drowned out by the higher melodies in mainstream recordings), and he had such a passionate and committed following from the beginning... we WANT to hear him! Such a thing as too much Avi? NEVER!!! Love your reactions. Always here for PTX.

Even in the Avi/Peter Hollins duo, Black is the Color...Peter's multi stacked voices really drowned out Avi. I thought it was either very poorly mixed or peter trying to get the glory. Now, I only listen to PTX in the old videos Avi was in. I could not care less about them now.

@@pamscarr8696 I have a special fondness for the older recordings, too. As I often say, the Avi years were a phenomenon. They were such an eclectic mix, probably doomed from the start with everyone's energy moving in such different directions. I love it when reactors go back to the oldies and we get to experience that dynamic combination again. Avi&Kevin!!!! I think I've watched the Sing-Off journey a dozen times!

Mitch also has a tattoo on his collarbone that says "collarbone" 😉 At this point in their timeline, they also added hanging mics for the trio so I imagine the balance was a choice.

Thank you for reacting to this fun Pentatonix video. Mitch delivered on the sass. I thought that I was the only one who felt that way about the bass on this video. Nice to know that it wasn't just me.

No such thing as too overpowering when Avi sings bass. He and Kevin were kings of the rhythm section, and I loved every minute of it. I prefer the older performances. Though today's PTX tracks are lovely many are over produced, in my opinion. I miss the simpler days when they sat on the couch and sang or chatted with their fans. Much more intimate and personal.

Just wanted to say you have the cutest accent. It's definitely Australian, but not so thick that it's hard to understand. While I"m here I might as well add, that you are just as cuuuuute as the accent.
