This is not a slight against the older generation ( Sharapova, Williams sisters, etc) because I understand that they are professionals and take their tennis seriously, BUT it's so refreshing to see the younger generation give these relaxed, funny, light hearted interviews, and not bristle at the press or treating them as antagonists. Yes, sometimes the press will ask a stupid question but Osaka never takes it as a personal affront and just comes up with a joking response. I think she has the right attitude to make tennis enjoyable for the fans, on and off the court. Becoming a bigger and bigger fan each time.
@loydayo8835 жыл бұрын
even in other sports, you see this. it's one thing to take the game seriously, but interviews should be a time to be loose or at least, more relaxed :P

Proving you dont need to be arrogant even if u r successful. Naomi has become such a huge star and backed her us open result with another run. She wins it or not but she will be dominant for next decade. N has potential to end up with 10 slams atleast. She has every weapon in the game . Plus that ad was disgusting. I just hope she sits down with her team and look at the beginning of the 2nd set. She got a little too excited after winning the 1st set at 6-2, and it probably cost her the set. She had a number of chances early - at 1-1, and had she been able to capitalize on them, she could have easily ended the match in 2 sets. It was good to see her 'calm' down, regain her form, and finish the match. It's tough to watch my 2 favorite women's players in a match like this, but I think the better player won. Kvitova is also a very good player, who could match Osaka's ground strokes, but I think Osaka's got the better serve. I picked her to win after her US Open victory last year, so I not going to change now. Osaka in 2 sets - 6-3, 6-4 :)

@kennygooswit84575 жыл бұрын
IAM SO HAPPY THAT NAOMI WON, but at the same time i have this simple remarks: it will make Naomi’s life on the court easier if she ups her first service percentage. You only get that by extra training on it. The second thing is the effect on the ball. Why is Nadal so succesful? The key word is TOPSPIN. Learn from him. The third is anticipation. Knowing where you opponent is going to hit the ball. You improve by studying the persons standing position before hitting the ball. Sometimes it is better to just pick a possible corner than stand and watching the ball go bye. Anyway you will force her to pick another corner and make her changes of missing bigger. Wishing you all the success in the world. Don’t get me wrong.
@KaptainOW5 жыл бұрын
Kenny Gooswit Everything is good, but as for the topspin thing, women’s tennis is pretty much overpowering, and who can absorb that power and take it off the ball. A lot of topspin is good, but mostly for the men’s side. If Naomi can learn how to hit an insane amount of spin, but continuously hit the balls at the same pace she is now, then she’ll basically be unstoppable.
@maggotbrain74995 жыл бұрын
Kenny Gooswit Naomi knows all these things, but still gambles a lot. If she can play intuitive she is able to calculate on intuition the perfect game. She must get back in her own flow where there are no expectations only sure shots.
@ccaammiinniiito25 жыл бұрын
@Kenny..."Don't get me wrong." Are you kidding. Yours is an EXCLELLENT review with plenty of suggestions to improve her over all game, advice that should be taught at all tennis academies. But, Kenny, my bias is serve and volley, so my opinions don't count. I'm just not on the ground with baseline tennis. But I'll take what I can get.
@Wben1135 жыл бұрын
Naomi would be totally unbeatable if she ventured to the net after those amazing deep groundstrokes to the corners. They would be very easy put always. She has a great serve, amazing powerful groundstrokes that most players are just trying to get back, so following them to the net would be amazing. The players that don't hit as hard as she does would get passed a lot. I don't see that happening to her. And she is a beautiful girl inside and out. How can anyone not rout for her. Her acknowledgment of her opponants good shots, the way she gently tosses the balls to the ball kids. A lot of that comes from her upbringing and maybe to some extent her Japanese background. Love her head bowing too. Great girl.

Win or lose, Osaka becomes quite a presence in tennis after AZ and USO. Perhaps the only suggestion I would have for the rising star if I were her coach is to wide her arsenal of weapons: drop shot, coming more to the net, volley, cross court rallies, all of which when possible. Don't rely heavily on baselining. And, for heaven's sake, make short work of a game whenever possible. If you see, for example, opportunities to come to the net, do so.

Finally, a return to great women tennis -- from two highly worthy finalists -- as women tennis traditionally has been, i.e., an elegant sport replete with feminine grace, style and beauty save an intervening period of conduct monstrosity and demeaning grotesquerie prevailed upon by a party of one literally abasing herself and the sport for 2 decades:-( So it is that her imminent retirement to full-time motherhood cannot come a moment too soon.
