Is that a natural (non refrigerated) Luge track? Luge was very different then (pre-1970s) wooden sleds without high tech synthetic materials, no streamlined body suits or clear plastic face covers, goggles and open face helmets for the sliders, holding straps attached to sled runners at front for slider, some hand on track steering adjustments, and mostly or all natural Luge and bobsled tracks. I imagine quite a bit more risk also.
