Flight Report - Austrian Airlines Business Class Europe
Check out my flight report from this Austrian flight from Dusseldorf
to Vienna. This was the first leg of my trip to Larnaca, Cyprus. The flight number was OS158 and the flying time was about 1hr and 30 minutes. The aircraft - Airbus A320 with registration OE-LBY. It was originally delivered to Lufthansa in 2012.
I must say that Austrian provides excellent service even on short haul flights within Europe. As part of the Lufthansa group, Austrian uses Lufthansa's check-in desks and Business Class lounge in Dusseldorf Airport. Check-in was fast and hassle free. However, the security check in Dusseldorf could be improved. It took more than half an hour to go through the security check.
Lufthansa's business class lounge in Dusseldorf Airport is neat and spacious but it kind of lacks ambiance. It wasn't particularly busy early in the morning. Food and drinks choice was average. I don't think you could get an English breakfast, for example. Anyway, I decided to have just an apple and yoghurt... and a cappuccino. The lounge offers a good view of the apron though.
There was priority boarding for business class passengers at the gate but we were eventually taken to the aircraft by bus. So everybody rushed to board but I don't have a problem with that. Business class was empty - there were only two of us. I guess, there are not so many business passengers on this route during the summer months. Actually, it kind of felt like flying in a private jet Lol The crew was very friendly and polite. Information was provided throughout the entire flight. We were also welcomed from the cockpit. As this was an early morning flight, a small breakfast was served. Food was tasty. You could also ask for more coffee, juice, bread, etc. In terms of punctuality, the flight departed on time and arrived in Vienna about 10 minutes ahead of the scheduled arrival time.
