This is in Australia....different laws....in USA...Gov allows Manufacturers to control what you can control/change on vehicles mostly due to emissions or so you have to go to dealer. USA Gov wants the rich to stay rich, control patents,copyrights,etc..

For example if the engine control module is replaced , the new module required to have the correct engine calibration , theft deterrent, crankshaft variation relearn reprogrammed .

This is not a clean slate ecm It doesn't work this way people The J2534 Pass thru WILL PERFORM this function, but you need to link to GM/ Ford..( Not Free) download the software..Then install /program immobilizer as well along with Vin Rewrite

I just want to said this for all who are not happy with this tool. I am using this tool over a year a go, and I am very happy customer of autel, I can't complain at all, my personal opinion this is one of the best scan tool, has almost everything I need every day to work, I have verus pro and when I am working on mini, bmw, Benz, land rover, volvo, I use maxisys pro, I have done bmw the f series programming new fuel pump, coding or adaptation works like factory scan tool, and the past I did GM programming body or windows switch, ecm updates, but for unknown reason autel removed this feature. I don't understand why some people campaign. THIS IS AMAZING TOOL MAXISYS PRO. I LOVE MY MAXISYS PRO... HIGH RECOMMEND.

I noticed the engine control module was the only module you could select to program. I know a 2008 c/k truck has many other modules. Can u program those or is this tool limited to ECM?

omar monzo yes you can, you will have to rewrite the old vin on the new pcm, sometimes it it tricky, you will have to copy from old pcm while hooked, mid process of vin rewrite you will have to install new pcm and continue the rewrite. It will work

i have this maxisys too. i wanna know if it supports ECU replacements on GM under its programming function. i know the icon is there but never tried it and not sure how wel it functions. we work on lots of gms and replace ECUs with used units. but we are subsribed to GM SPS wbsite and replace and program used replacement ECUs from there but GM susbscription is around $1000 year just for programming part. i wonder if i can replace ECUs with my maxisys so i dont have to buy GM subscription just for this next time or if one of you have done it, your input would be appreciated . thank you

I just laid out $189.00 for an Autel Maxicheck Pro scanner, only works on cars up to 2013, it does not work on newer model cars newer than 2013, and there is no warning about it anywhere on the advertizing information, oor on the box... REVIEW, AND DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE YOU BUY!!!

i read tht you could do GM ECU replacement and programming in older versions but after GM update version 5 on maxisys, no more GM programming. by mistake i updated my GM version too so i know i wont have that feature and i never saved old version too in my computer. i wonder if one of you out there still have older version and some how can email or send me the file i would really appreciate it. i belive until version 4. you could have done programming on GM.

Nacho Miranda I was pretty mad when I posted this! The Scan tool is actually not that bad for the money. However, I like the Snap-On Verus but lots of people have issues with them breaking and need to be send in for repair. Personally I will hang in there and see what updates are to come this Year. One of them is supposed to be the ability to do GM true the scan tool again. Make no mistake!!!! this scan tool will do lots of makes but you will be required to use the manufactures software to flash.
