Absolutely worth the price, if camera quality matters most. To me, it does. That's a 0.8 inch sensor on a 249g drone which is unprecedented and a huge improvement over mini. Notice the shadow detail on the tank and the greater dynamic range. Heck both Air 2 and Evo 2 standard are 0.5. Can you do a low light test with it Ken? No one on KZbin that knows what they're doing has put comparisons up yet (that I can find)

Coming in under 250g is obviously why the comparisons are always in the "mini" class, but it would be awesome to see a Nano+ comparison to the DJI Air 2 when it comes to functionality vs price. I REALLY wanted to love the Nano, but it's hard to justify dropping a grand on a first gen unit with such a chaotic first month rollout.

So I am getting a Nano+ next week. The selling point for me is no geo-fencing. I fly mostly FPV but I am starting a side business, and to not have to deal with geo-fencing will be a game changer. This will be my first Autel, I've had DJI and all the frustrations lol. THANKS KEN!!!!!!!!!!!

You didn't even mention the main reason I will buy the Nano+ and gleefully retire the Mini 2 I already have: geofencing! Where I live I have had several instances in which, after getting LAANC approval, I was unable to get a DJI drone to take off due to firmware or data communication issues with DJI's geofencing. I already replaced my Mavic Air 2 with an Autel Evo 2 Pro, and I'm soooo much happier. Once I can get my hands on the Nano or Nano+ I'll be done with DJI for good.

Big user and fan of Autel products. I have to agree with you on the price point here on the Nano+. $949 puts this drone cost near the DJI Air2 platform at $988 for flymore or Air2s for $999 ($1299 for flymore) which is arguably a better drone. I feel as though the Nano is leaning on the diminishing return side of the spectrum. It’s a shame they couldn’t get it closer to DJI’s price point

The nano camera sensor is closer in size to the air2s than the mini. Just going sub 250 the nano is far superior but I agree it should be compared to something with the same price.

Ken; it's $599 for the Mini 2 and $949 for the Nano+ - both with the fly more combo. Or $449 and $799. Still a significant difference but not as much as you were thinking. Did you notice how much better the video quality was with the Nano+? Autel says to compare the Nano+ with the Air 2s as Maxwell Lee said on your show.

I don't think the Nano+ compares with Air 2s but with the Mavic Air 2. The 2s has a much bigger sensor and specs.

@@armandoferreira8790 : Not that much bigger sensor. The Nano+ has a .8" and the A2s has a 1". I believe the Air 2 only has a .5" sensor. I'm not knocking the Air 2 or 2s. I had the A2 and have the A2s now and love it. There's also the new RYYB tech that allows more light to get to the sensor on the Nano+. Nothing is written in stone right now. We need to get these little Nano's in our hands to do some real world testing to find out. I'm only saying the Mini 2 is the wrong drone to compare the new Nano+ to. The only thing it shares with the Mini 2 is they are both sub 250g drones.

Ken , I love the whole video here, and the several comparison images between the 'autel evo nano' and the 'dji mini 2', and I know now that I made the right choice with the autel which has served me effortlessly for the last few months, and Autel always have some great offers on for spare batteries and other accessories for this drone too. Having owned also a phantom 4 pro and letting batteries go flat by mistake which then causes the batteries to go into 'DJI money making destruct' mode, I am so pleased that the autel batteries, if allowed to go flat in error, do not suffer (as yet) from 'auto destruct forever mode'. Thanks again though Ken, always enjoy your videos. By the way, in Britain here, its permanent snow (well that's how it feels most of the time!). - love the part where you drive the autel into that tunnel - talk of nail biting. Andy United Kingdom

Only a small difference but $949 is the price of the Nano+ Premium bundle.... The Mini 2 Fly More Combo is $599. You were comparing just the Mini 2 alone at $449 to the Nano+ bundle. Also the lower priced Nano has an excellent camera as well with all of the obstacle avoidance and most of the Nano+ features. The Nano Premium bundle is $799. The Autel Nano/Nano+ will briefly be the kings of the sub 249 gram drones until the Mini 3 comes out later this spring with a low price and improved specs over DJI's earlier generations.

As always, DJI way more polished in every aspect, and for 1/2 price. I don't believe anybody will spend double the price just for those sensors, especially when Mini 2 survives almost any crash. Also I am surprised nobody noticed that jello effect in Autel video, very annoying. It would be nice if DJI has some serious competition, but Autel doesn't seem to be the case.

Having bought an Autel back in October 2022 and crashed it in January, I can tell you that Autel customer service is shockingly bad. I had a crash with a Mini years ago and the customer service is not even comparible. I would urge anyone thinking of Autel (mainly due to the no geo-fencing) to think again. It has been one of the worst companies I've dealt with in the last 30 years.

@@Matanumi Well lets just say that he diagnosis report from Autel came to a total of over 1,200 euros. A guy locally is hopeful that just the camera ribbon needs replacing as it flies just fine. I got stung for over £50 import duty as they dont declare them as temporary imports as a repair always would. They just want to sell you a new one. Mine was 6 months old.

Autel pricing thier drones like they are the more established and reliable brand,not to mention their awful batteries and buggy app. They copy dji and sell for a higher cost.

What I did not hear you mention is that the Nano+ has a f1.9 lens and a larger sensor about 0.78" vs 0.43" for the Mini 2, about 80% larger than the Mini 2. I found the shadow detail and detail in general superior with the Nano+. Will the sensors be helpful? What I'm most concerned about is the precise maneuverability in small spaces (no sensors) in the Nano+ and the new Evo Lite+. The Mini 2 does not have the "tripod" mode of the Mavic 2 and the Cine mode is almost useless for very tight spaces as the Mini 2 just reacts too much- or too little.

This comparison it's not very wide, the hover on the Autel it's worse as you can see with your naked eye. The speed of the drone, the wind will take it everytime. The hovering (record while hovering) it's 10 time worse than the Mini 2... this drone really doesn't worth even 500$, to be real!

From what I have seen, Obstacle Avoidance, the drone will stop and not go around the Obstacle. Follow Track, will be camera guided not GPS, which means losing track will happen if line of sight is broken.

When it comes to stabilty test in fixed position, I give thumb up to DJI. It sure drifts sligthly more, but Autel seems to have some vibrations issues (from the motors?). Anyways, cashing out double just for obstacle avoidance sensors and maybe some other small feature, I don't think it's worth it. Thanks for the video.

It’s stated in the website that this drone is not rated for temperatures below 32F and some other reviewer said it may cause vibrations from the gimbal due to wind. They said it will be improved for colder weather later but who knows when

The mini 2 did lose gps under that gazebo thing. It indicated you were in attitude mode. But it reacquired signal very quickly.

Thanks Ken! You are one of the most entertaining drone vloggers. Nano+ has growing pains I don't mind dealing with. Just had a big update yesterday that adds a bunch of features. . Do you think the Mini 3 will have to have a better camera and obstacle avoidance to keep up with the competition and then cost more?

that’s a good difference check with those two. I’m surprised on the Autel price. Usually they’re a bit more affordable. I have the EVO and XStar Premium still and they’re both great drones but I may be looking into the mini for an int’l travel drone. Thanks for the vid!

Nice flying, and good video too. I like my drones small and quiet. Comparing it to a Mavic 3....I would call the Nano+ more like a small Mavic Air 2. No side sensors right? I wonder what the Mini 3 will look like... The price of the Mini 2 is hard to beat, and they're easy to find used. I will need to see the tracking type features on the Nano, but my guess they're going to be a while and rough at first.

Dynamic range and shadow detail noticeably better on the nano. ND filter might be the solution there. I’d still go with the mini 2, given the price.
